my first condenser was a POS. not a very positive experience.

what microphone are you using? what kind of soundcard does your computer have? what is your budget? what is your location? are you near ho-chi-min or hanoi where you can buy recording gear?

i second the artcore. great players, not very refined but get the job done, cheap and build like a tank. i swapped the bridge pu for a p-90 on mine to make it more versatile.

works like a charm. i compared it to a demo version of antares autotune and you should be be crazy to spend $400 on antares!

assuming all the ugliness harshness clipping and distortion is intentional this sounds pretty cool and you've done a great job. -bass sounds boomy and undefined -drums sound too 'hollow' -keys need a push towards mid/high to cut through the mix -guitars lack some highs -spoken vox are too soft...

ok fair enough : what about a pair of beyerdynamic mce530's. they can be found for a little more than $200. i have no experience with them personally but both beyerdynamic mics i own - a 201 and an old 420 - sound absolutely brilliant.

that's 40-15000 and 50-15000

they are variations on the same design with a difference in sound that is too small to be significant.
