    Q for Bass Pod users

Well, since nobody else wants to bite ... I will. Line6 made the Bass Pod for recording! Is it Noisy? That's a matter of opinion and how particular one is to the sound quality. If you record with good levels and use quality cables, I'd offer that the noise is low, but not professional studio...

    Mid-Price Acoustic Guitar, need help

I would recommend the Carvin C980. With case it ran me $850 US and blew away all the competition in its price range, including Martins and Taylors. Don't know if you can get one over there though. Regards. Mountaineer

First Time Using VSampler At Sonar Producer 3.1.1

minofifa: All I'm saying is that I avoid triggering samples during the recording stage because I always have some latency. To keep from having to deal with timing issues caused by latency, if I want to add a bass synth line I simply choose a Midi bass tone on my keyboard ( there is ZERO latency...

    Hard drive question

hey dachay2tnr, While I've always kept Sonar system files on my OS drive and audio on another, I've never retained the picture cache file on my OS drive. I've also kept my project files on my OS drive within the Sonar program file structure. Are there specific advantages of the file separation...

First Time Using VSampler At Sonar Producer 3.1.1

You're referring to latency and your system horsepower will determine the minimum settings, however you can never reach zero. Why worry about it at all unless you are performing live? When I use soft synths I never need to hear the final result while recording. I just track with applicable midi...

    Cover: How Much I Feel

dachay2tnr: Very well done!! Mix is awesome and you sang it great. Wonderful harmonies on the backing vox. The only thing I would change is the fade time at the ending .... more gradual if possible. Great job! Makes me want to hear more. It was well worth the 28 minute download time. Regards...

    Best keyboard $300 or under?

MisterQ, dude! The wife made any delicious margaritas lately? You're right ... the old modules require a lot of tweaking just to get them to sound presentable. I sold an old SC-8850 I hardly touched anymore just to finance my softsynths and sample library purchases ... got rid of some wires...

    Best keyboard $300 or under?

Ibrow: No reason for suggesting the PSR-273, other than it's economical and full-sized. You are right ....any midi compatible keyboard would do unless you prefer usb and even then I believe they make adapters. I found no full synth packages with features such as Edirol for the price, but I...

    Best keyboard $300 or under?

No, I don't post tunes ... never saw any benefit to that, besides, I live in the sticks and have a modem connection. I do music because It's a hobby, but I write all my lyrics and music. Even if no one ever heard it but me, I'd still do it. Here's what I can offer - BFD ... Like every package...

    Speaking of cliches....

Well, the fact of the matter is that, in terms of writing lyrics, it's all been done before. A good writer just has to move the goal-posts, be thinking outside the box, push the envelope, so to speak, and literally strive to touch base with the listening audience. With all due respect to the...

    Best keyboard $300 or under?

You know ... I'm not a keyboard player either, but like you, I like to add synths to my music. The good part of not being a keyboardist is I don't care about weighted keys, aftertouch ... all I want is an interface. The rest I can do with software. The point I'm making is all of the above...

    Echo mia troubles...

The outputs on the Mia are balanced L/R or virtual 1/2. I also use the Mia-Midi and it's a great card. My setup includes a Focusrite twintrack pre that has a monitoring section, so my Mia outputs go back to the Twintrack for monitoring via headphones or studio monitors. You need to run the...

    Good Book

No ... and no offense to the author, but I did read Cakewalk Power in 2000, which is why I didn't bother with Sonar Power. To me, CWP was a re-write of the PA9 manual, spiced up with a few tips. Anderton's book is written to help you understand how Sonar 3's features can be best put to work to...

    Good Book

Anyone checked out Craig Anderton's book "Sonar 3 - Mixing and Mastering"? I'm about halfway through it and, so far, I'm liking it. It's got quite a bit of detail and I'm learning new tips and tricks to try out. I hope the mastering chapters are as informative as the mixing ones. If you can...

    Carvin amps . . .

I own a Carvin 212 Bel Air ... just sold a Vintage16 cause I didn't use it anymore after getting the Bel Air. The Bel Air a great sounding amp,but it's not for everyone. If your into metal, it's not your amp. If your into SRV blues, it'll knock your socks off. It also has a very nice clean sound...

Why didn't I do this sooner - LCD monitors

Funny ... I have a Costco coupon for $50 off the 19" version. I've been saving it until mid-march when it becomes valid. It will cost me around $500, but well worth it. 700:1 contrast ratio and has digital/Analog inputs. Like you, I can't wait to get rid of the hum, especially when recording...

    New demo - opinions?

Great job, Tim! Guitars are awesome and the vocals are very good too. Perhaps some EQ for instrumental separation would help, but it may just be the MP3 quality. I had plenty of bass, but sometimes the vocal and the lead guitar solo got lost in the mix. Drums were done well ... I thought...

    Which One?

moskus is right. Sonar was a quantam leap, but I was still running Win98 because my audio interface at the time was a Gadget Labs 824. The combination didn't get along well. It seems I spend 50% of my hobby time recording and the other half keeping up with new hardware and software evolution...

    Two Sonar Installs?

Isn't there a way to get rid of ASIO drivers for the Audigy and WDM drivers for the Audiophile? Totally wipe em off your system, under XP's Control Panel / System / Device Manager, making sure you have assigned Audigy as ASIO and the Audiophile as WDM by removing the unwanted the driver files...
