After allocating enough of my Auralex for my vocal booth and for treating my work area I still have a few whole sheets leftover. I had a thought, which became a question I wanted to ask:
Would there be any sort of benefit at all to taking two sheets and placing them front to front thereby...
Yeah, it's what Auralex reccomends on their site. It's what we've always used in our studio builds but I didn't have one at home. The phrase "cuts like a knife through warm butter" is apt.
Just wanted to pop back in and say thanks again. Got the walls primed today, they look pretty darn good. Went digging through my audio "junk box" and found my stash of T-pins and I'm good to go.... well after I install the door and finish the ventilation anyway.
okay, just for giggles
Here's my current room. Part of my weird requirement, I have to be able to use it as I'm still building it in order to pay for the stuff for the build.
I'm different than many of you since my studio is for voice overs, etc. Notice the incomplete booth on the left...
Thanks everyone for the replys.
Yeah, I used T-pins back when I lived in an apartment. Worked pretty well and easy to repair the holes when I moved. I guess I just hadn't thought about it for this project since it is a more permanent installation. Thinking about it though, it's a great way...
It's funny. I was planning on building a desk as well, but after seeing the mess I've made building my vocal booth my wife has put her foot down and said buy something. Heh.
Jay,
Thanks for the quick reply.
If not the spray stuff what would you use? In the past we've used liquid nails, which was a bad idea, in one build. And the spray stuff in the other. The spray stuff worked out better to me because it wasn't "permanent" and didn't damage the panels too much...
All the sudden I'm in a panic over my vocal booth.
Construction is basically complete (finished hanging the sheetrock over the weekend YAY!) and I'm finishing the skim over the joint tape etc. today.
I was planning on applying Auralex directly to the unpainted rock but had two horrible...
Steve,
Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, you can pretty much have audio going one way or the other, but not both at the same time. It's definately not a hybrid. But as a freebie I thought I would give it a go until (or perhaps if) I need a hybrid.

Here's an odd one, from my VO studio.
A friend gave me an Exacibur HC-1 Handi-Coupler yesterday. Decided to hook it up today. Sending audio out (meaning me out to the phone) works great, no problems.
Trying to get audio from the phone into the mixer (my headphones are the end result of course)...
Yes, the likely culprit is your onboard soundcard. Sometimes this can be resolved, but I would highly reccomend getting something beefier. I love my little firebox with Audition (especially now that 2.0 supports ASIO), but if you are on a tight budget look around at some of the PCI options.
I really thought about buying one, got the quote and everything but in the end I have decided to build my own because I don't plan on moving for several years and seems I should be able to finish it for under $900.00 with ventilation and power. I only do VO work and the pre-builts seem pretty...
very interesting
So after receiving quotes for some prebuilt iso's, I've turned to forums such as this for inspiration. I find the PVC, blanket idea very interesting. My thinking is to do something like this for a few months until I can get up the cash for something more solid...or figure out...
