I want to start my very small recording facility, mostly for my private compositions. I have a 10x10 room (I live in an apt) where I have set up some equipment, but I dont know where/how to start buiding my studio.
The equipment I have is as follows
1. Dell PC - 1.3 Ghz, 80GB, 256MB, SB...
What config do you think might be able to handle this kinda work ? Is MAC better than PC ? (I like the cool looks of MAC so if its good for such apps, I might be able to make a case to buy one ;-))

it worked..seems like you guys are spending more time with n-Track than with your jobs ;-))
I tried to create an MP3 using 128Kbps rate, and it was ~4M compared to 8M produced when I was converting at the default rate of 256.
However the quality of sound aint so good in the 4M version...
Can someone tell me what determines the size of MP3 created after mixdown ? I recorded a song (2 tracks,one vocals,one karaoke), and mixed it down.The wav file's size was ~53M and the converted MP3 was 9M in size.Is there a way to reduce this size further ? If I use a compressor for the tracks...
