    Most under-rate/under-exposed guitarist...

Nate, I actually agree with you. I love JM live...his studio work is really nothing very special, but Every time I see him live, he blows me away.

    Don't you mean you're Shure he won't be disappointed? :D I know, I know...terrible pun.

    sm57 equivalent

So no you didn't then? Suit yourself. I personally don't take offense to you saying you're not gonna buy one. Just trying to offer a suggestion. Just because something is cheaper doesn't mean it's a "quick fix." And FWIW...I thought the GLS es-57 sounded better than the Shure SM-57 on the...

    Most under-rate/under-exposed guitarist...

+1 for Neil Zaza. Great tone, great melodies, great speed when he wants, and for some reason, most people in his own home town (which happens to be just minutes from my home :D) don't even seem to know about him.

If you want a cheap 57, go here: http://www.speakerrepair.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=genem&Product_Code=37-206&Category_Code= They're pretty much the same thing for 1/3 the price. If you don't believe me, head to WhiteStrat's shootout and listen to the clips.

HELP - Precision Bass has developed a warped neck

Creezus, VP...you just seem to not know anything about anything you claim to know everything about. Doesn't that get tiring?

I'm with everyone else: Awesome playing, and awesome job on your placement "test." I'd say you passed!

    Acoustic soundtrack

I'm "only" 27, and I thought you were doing a Marshall Tucker cover too. Excellent job (as always) on the recording. I can't wait to see the technical side laid out for us!

Why do you feel the need to make fun of my guitar? That's seriously not cool man.

    Piano Mic Help!

+1 on the firebox. Can't speak for the other pieces of gear on the list since I've never used them before. I did record a piano piece for a relative of mine, and the only equipment I had was 2 MXL 991's and the Firebox. It wasn't spectacular, but it did the job just fine.

    Decent Mid/Side combination?

MS Micing has to have a figure 8. You can use anything type for the "Mid" (most of the time people use a cardioid), but the "Side" HAS to be figure 8. Also, some ribbon mics (active ribbons) need phantom power. Check the specs on the ribbon mic you buy to be sure, but Darrin is right about...

    Reaper + EZ drummer

Easiest way to get multi-out working in Reaper: Load a new project, then right click under the main toolbar. Select the option "Insert Virtual Instrument on new track." Select EZ Drummer from your plugin list. Then it will bring up 9 tracks: 1 for EZD itself, and 8 more for the different...

    Audio Interfaces

+1000 Have one of these. It is totally worth the $200 that it costs now. I paid $250 for mine about 4 months ago, and I love it.

    Metering question

Not necessarily the waveform size. "Mixing by sight" usually is mixing so that everything is as close to 0db as possible (usually after being smashed into oblivion with a compressor/limiter).

    ITB reamping

You would need some way to split the signal for your guitar. Run one signal to your miced amp, and the other signal (your dry signal) to a separate track. When you need to re-amp, put whatever plugin(s) you need on the dry signal. It's that easy. Just make sure whatever splitter you used is...

    which presonus model

Fair warning: The whole FireStudio line uses the DICEII chipset. If it works, it's great, if it doesn't...you're outta luck. The FP10's use the BeBoB(?) chipset. Same as the Firebox. Much more stable (driver-wise). Like I said, if the chipset on the firestudio works with your machine...

    metal head

No opinion on the Line 6 here, but I have a Peavey Vypyr 30 (SS) that does absolutely anything I need it to. The demos I've seen of the Tube Head sound pretty good to me. If the L6 doesn't pan out, check out the peavey. They originally had some QC issues on the SS ones, so I waited a bit to...
