how do I get this sound?

Yes. You can use automation to reduce and increase or turn on and off the chorus. When you listen through a good set of nearfield monitors you will realize that you haven't been hearing what you think you're hearing. Skip the home stereo speakers.. they're no good for this job. You need...

how do I get this sound?

When I listen to this track, I don't hear anything at the beginning that doesn't continue through the song. It's probably just becoming hidden in the mix. Are you listening through home stereo speakers?

CD mastering help - dividing tracks

My guitar player has been so annoyed with the recent mucking with the red-book standards. No CD's with those new "copy-protection" markings will play in his van CD played. Interestingly enough, it's done nothing to prevent me from copying them. Perhaps the labels are being paid off by the CD...

CD mastering help - dividing tracks

I'm happy as long as most recent (post 1995) CD players can play the audio in track 1 and later. I'm curious how many commercial albums have hidden secret tracks before track one. I only have first hand experience with one. Blind Melon "soup". I will check out audio-architect first. their...

CD mastering help - dividing tracks

I'm looking for a good CD mastering program that will allow me to take a single 16 bit wav file containing an entire album (including track transitions and so forth) and simply place markers where the track count should advance. I'd also like to be able to place music before the "track 1" marker...

SM57 & SM58: Difference in frequency response curve!

Bassy? Muffled? I find that a broken 57 has these characteristics. Poking holes in the diaphragm usually fixes that. Use one of the pins on the flux capacitor for this purpose.

SM57 & SM58: Difference in frequency response curve!

Yup. The D112 is a pretty standard kick mic -- the 57/58 is not.

    Behringer DDX3216 - any good?

Their review is pretty favorable. I like this mixer, but my experience with it lasted all of half an hour -- certainly not enough to make a judgement about reliability or build quality. I like the IMP's, and the D/A converters, which I believe are the same as those in the ADA8000's. They're not...

SM57 & SM58: Difference in frequency response curve!

They both pretty much suck for kick bro. Try a D112 for a contrast to a standard kick mic.

SM57 & SM58: Difference in frequency response curve!

The 57 and 58 are probably more similar than any other two mics. Frequency curves really aren't the only difference between one mic and another.

    Cheap reverb with SPDIF in/out

Interesting.. I was looking for a cheap SPDIF A/D converter last week.. haha -- I'm in multi-function paradise. Probably will wait another week or two until I'm done recording the band I have in the studio now, then I'll go for a little shopping trip and pick one of these up.

Mic & Preamp for #1 Billboard Songs

Chessparov, Good guess :) Indeed. She's a pleasure to work with, and really knows her stuff. Did you guess because of her recording technique, or was she the only top female producer that came to mind? Some of my buddies have been shopping for producers, and honestly, she's the only female I...

Mic & Preamp for #1 Billboard Songs

I had the pleasure of working with one of the worlds top record producers. She insisted on Neve consoles all the way through the recording process, but had less of an obsession for using trendy high-priced microphones. Not to say that we didn't get a chance to play with fancy equipment, but most...

When I was just a little boy

I remember having a pleasant experience with some Earthworks reps at CMW a few years ago. I'll definitely check these out again.

    Cheap reverb with SPDIF in/out

I'm looking for a cheap reverb unit that has spdif in and out. Can anyone recomend a model? It doesn't have to sound *great* since the sound will not be put to tape (it's just for monitoring)

When I was just a little boy

In high school I decided to rent a Yamaha MT8X and some mics so I could record my high school band. If I remember correctly, I decided to try a new microphone -- I believe it was a battery powered AKG C1000S. Well, when I plugged this thing in, I was just astonished. The sound of analog tape...

Conducting some research on the sometimes childish attacks here--any thoughts?

Sometimes, it's good to choose your battles. Me, personally, I just got back on my meds. It's working out great, thanks.
