With a four track why bother to isolate? Just keep moving the mikes around until you get a good stereo balance. How many tracks were you intending to dedicate to drums anyway? What other instruments will you be adding? Dom:confused:

I have a set of big honkin passives... LOUD ONES! and I aslo use a small nearfield set of active (Event 5") for mixes Dom:D

Just lower the high EQ a bit! Better yet, buy a mixer with more EQ, or a separate Graphic EQ that you can patch in where you need it. BTW it is usually better to cut EQ than boost, to reduce adding extra noise. Dom;)

I usually sub-mix drums to Stereo (Two Tracks) But sometimes I'll mix drum tracks to one channel. If I do I mike the cymbals separately and cut all frequencies on those mikes but upper end, then mike the kick and boost bass freq's and cut highs. I mike snare and toms with boosted mids and cut...

Buy some cheap second hand blankets Go to a Salvation Army Store or Goodwill, and get some old blankets. Hang them on the walls or better yet suspend them from the ceiling about 4 inches from the walls. (Clothes line will do!) You don't have to cover every wall completely, just experiment...

What brand of guitar is it? If it's a Gibson, Martin, Taylor or such I wouldn't hesitate to tune up to concert pitch. If the bridge starts lifiting on one of these well made guitars, then a visit to a luthier is called for. A good guitar repair guy can reglue the bracing and restore the action...

PS.... DONT FORGET TO SWITCH OFF THE MIKE WHEN RECORDING! Or you will get bleed from your monitors. Dom:eek:

Just set up a mike.... Just set up a mike in the control room and a speaker in the Isolation booth. You will be able to hear the artist through the mike that you are using to record with. Dom:p
