I've always liked Cool Edit for a editor, although the CEP plug ins suck for the most part. If you want to make a good investment, go get your self the Waves Native Gold Bundle or bundle of your choice for the shiznits in processing. They've got the best effects, EQ's, sonic maximizers...

I'll have to look into that external wave editing, that sounds super duper coolio. Yeah CEP seems like a kiddie toy once you start getting into Cubase a bit. There's just so much there it can be a bit overwhelming at first. The lingo's all different and the controls are all different....ugh.:(
