    PSA-1 or PODxt Pro

I love the sansamp classic rackmount which is the PSA without settings. It has a wonderfully analog and natural distortion. Cleans are ok and there are no other effects... but for distortion, it is in your face and beautiful.

    Tech21 PSA-1 Discontinued ???

The thing about the sansamp stuff is that it was analog circuitry (at least the sansamp that I have... I don't know if the psa went digital)... I haven't heard that analog sound replicated with any modeling preamp anywhere.

    vocal booth option????

Yeah, for what I do, I need to be able to fold it up and put it away after each session and that's why what I made works great. If you are in a similar situation where you can't just have a big ass room built in your room, try doing what I did for like $70.

    vocal booth option????

Good suggestion for a permanent booth... but he wants something portable...

    Micpreamp necessary?

You need a preamp. If you don't have enough money for both save up... there is always something cheaper if you have to record right now.

    vocal booth option????

Let me expand on that thing I made. First of all... i've never had any experience with tools so that's not an excuse. I just bought a $20 power screwdriver and a $5 saw and started working and those are both tools I'll use again and again. Those acoustic blankets have an NRC of .70 which is...

    Studio Projects C1 vs. MXL603

603 would be better for acoustic guitar i believe in general. I have both and always use the 603

Does the EV RE16 have a bass roll off switch?

nope... there is naturally a low amount of bass because of their variable D watchamacallit though which gives it a very small proximity effect.

    C1 vs. AT3035

Put in the extra $50 and get an SM7... you'll get great vocal sounds, have a studio standard, and be able to use it for many other things. For the record I bought the AT3035 for about $90 and did my best to sell it. I hated it on my vocals, and it made overheads sound weak. It just seemed...

acoustic guitar micing: MXL 603's vs. SP B1

I could buy some much more expensive mics at this point for recording acoustic (because I'm addicted to ebay and spend much more money than i should)... but I'm actually afraid to sell my 603s because they sound so good. Every acoustic I've used it on, sounds better through the speakers than it...

    cheap, cheap soundproofing material

Go check out the studio building forum... this is probably the most commonly discussed thing. But check out mineral wool it's like 30 bucks for 48 square feet or something.

    AKG C414 TLII Question

550-650 would probably be a great deal for you and good enough for him.

    How is this?

Sounds pretty good... the singer is out of key a bit but I'm pretty hypersensitive to pitch. I like the vibe of the bit reduced low fi snare in the background.

Thank you very much :) I agree with Geet... there's something up with your monitoring chain or something because it's kind of weird sounding.
