    guitar & FX recomendation

He's right on the money Despite what manufactures say the basic sound of a guitar starts first and foremost with the player. Bob Marley and Slash play Les Pauls, neither sound alike nor do they sound like Les Paul. Now most "heavy rock" players perfer a guitar with a humbucker but buying a...

    Apparently, Jesus prefers single coils

I've known a few musican's who attended Christian Colleges and Universities. They said that the big thing for freshman is to learn how to play guitar and form a praise and worship band. Well if Mom & Dad can afford a private education they're not scimping on the guitars. They said it was...

Legal Question: putting covers on your CD

Greetings and Salutations I’ve been recording a demo for a band that is turning out better than expected. The band now wants to release it into stores. What is troubling me is that there are a few “covers” on the disc. Granted they put their own spin on it but that isn’t the question. The...

    Creating a buzz

Open for the Hot band in your local area or any national act. If you play as well if not better then the headliner people will be talking about you.

    voice gear

Autotune will help keep the pitch, but it won't do anything for a thin voice. If that is your problem try doubling your vocal tracks.

    Bus sens on AA suck!!

Hum... I use Amplitube with no problem. I wouldn't think guitar rig would be a problem. I tried to load Cubases Plug-ins. No dice!!!1

    Bus sens on AA suck!!

Yep. Maybe I'm slow but I just couldn't get the hang of it. Espcially when trying to get in drum loops. It was one of those things where I could spend 30 minutes figuring something out in Cubase or have it done in 10 on A.A. How do the VST Plug ins compare between Cubase and AA? Better, worse...

    Hit song Forumal

check this out http://www.hitsongscience.com This is an interesting site. It claims the software can predict if the song is going to be a hit or not. I’m sure all of the recording industry can’t wait to get their mits on it. I don’t know the mathematical formula of it is 100% on the money on...

    Cool Edit Plugins

Good advice. And remember that most people will tweek the presets to get the sound they like. Right now I'm just using Adobe's and Cakewalks plug-ins. I'd like to try waves but considering the price tag is $700 - $1500 at this point I'm better off investing in my chain. (i.e. better mics)

    anyone use Adobe Audition?

I also have AA (version 1.5) I like it. For me it had a short learning curve and is easier to use. However I've heard others praise Cubase. I recently got LE edition with the firepod. I understand how it works but I guess I'm so used to Audition I've never really used it. For me it's easy...

    Bus sens on AA suck!!

I concur... I took a day to try to figure out Cubase LE. Just got tired and went back to A.A. Better the devil you know.

    best electric guitar under 200?

Btw Music Man has a fairly new lower priced guitar that looks like the EVH model they had. Nice feeling neck, decent finish and decent pickups. The frets are a little small for my taste on the higher end but if you near a Guitar Center or want to log onto musican's friend it might be worth it...

    best electric guitar under 200?

I concur with the choice of Epiphone Special II. I like the feel of the neck and the sound is pretty decent coming out of the box. Then again I've switched out pick ups and tuning pegs so it isn't the same as I bought it at the store. I also "customized" it with some stickers. That is the nice...

Covers: To gig or not to gig!

Believe it or not there are plenty of clubs out there who have a no covers policy because they don't want to fork out the cash to BMI or ASCAP. But most of those aren't your local watering hole where half the audience is going to be there regaudless of who is playing. Most of those are venues...

    Home Studio Advice

I got a firepod last month and I'm really pleased with it. If you don't have software yet it comes with Cubase LE. Worth the bucks IMO. If your looking at just recording one thing at a time you won't need 8 plug ins. Save your money and get one that that has two inputs and put your money into...

Write a love song for your wife or better for your kids if you got them. Get Then explain to her every man needs a hobby. Some men golf, some men finish, some men sit on the couch all day drinking beer and watching sports and some men are musicans. If she thinks your hobby is a way to enrich...

    Frequency Splitting on A.A.

Hey just wanted to know if anyone uses the frequency splitter tool on Adobe Audition. If so what do you do to add spice to your tracks? Reverb? Delay? I’ve done it a few times and it makes some of the tracks sparkle, but it also adds a little too much low end and seems to take away from the...
