Ok, I have a dual Athlon MP 1800+ box.
Right now I am not running it because the CPU temps are WAY OUT OF CONTROL. ...and one of the chip fans siezed. So I need new chip coolers. What is the best option to keep it way cool and quiet, not uberquient, but quiet. I need to keep the chips...
my QV doesn't hum. I usually try to not to put important stuff near power amps. Go a power strip or patch bay, put it near that..if you can. It could help...then again it might not.
Ok, here's what you do. take the number of gear pieces you want in the rack and factorial that. You have...
I have been down this road many times and still I have not purchased a vocal unit. Let me tell you what I have learned.
VoicePrizm -- don't bother unless you get the upgraded version. I saw somewhere recently they were throwing in the card for only 100$ or something crazy like that but I...
I have used the TLM103 a number of times and never found it that great. I know I am not a majority, but I just don't dig it. I used the AT4033 with it and kept those tracks instead....against that grain, it's tougher that way.
:)
Just to comment on quality of Blackface...the reliablility is better than the LX machines, at least with the people I work with. The transport is a bit slower though.
Adat quality is quite good. It revolutionized recording about 10 years ago and still makes a huge impact today. Many gold...
Where is a good place to buy T/DIF cabling? The only place online that has them really is sweetwater and of course they want a sweetwater price for them. MF doesn't really have a good selection either.
Any suggestions?
I need three T/DIF cables abou 6'-12' each and I don't want to spend 90$.
Logic...really cool program, but it is now owned by Apple, thus they are dropping Windows support and updates, so you might want to shy away from that one if you are PC based.
Cubase SX vs Nuendo, after I started this thread I got on the Nuendo and Cubase boards on the steinberg sites and...
I really like the Ryan Adams one also.
Counting Crows Hard Candy was awesome
Can't think of anything else I bought this year...
Foo Fighter's latest album I think was pretty ok...
Yeah, I don't always keep up with this stuff.

I am now the proud owner of a new DM-24 from Mars going out of business. What a good thing, a store I don't like sells me stuff at no profit. I like it. Anyway, I didn't get a manual, just a cdrom, does this thing normally come with manuals? I haven't really gotten into the nuts and bolts...
Got it
I took some more time to figure out and it worked. It was a clock issue on the ADAT that was stopping me. (I forgot to set it to digital in). Yeah, I feel a little stupid. I need to just get a Lucid clock and have everything use that all the time. Anyway, thanks for your help...
Coming from Unix land, RTFM is a valid choice. I have read it, and tried it and really come up with not much. I have everything set as you say I should, but no dice. I will try it again tonight for a while.

I have a motu 2408 MKII and I would like to convert the analog signal to an ADAT signal without a computer present. Is that possible?
Basically, 8 analog inputs, 8 lightpipe outs. I have played around with it a small bit and had no luck. I might not be able to do A/D. I think it can do...
Sir SCI, just ask yourself, would you steal the microphones you rap on? Would you steal the the mixer you mix through? Just because something is software and digital doesn't make it nothing. If you're rapping you probably don't need all the features of Cubase, maybe N-tracks or cubasis or...
Two sites that do pretty good are the sweetwater site, has classifieds or something...
and usedssl.com I don't remember the real site, but click on their homepage and they have all sort of used soundcraft stuff.
