I jumped to Sonar 3 studio from Pro Audio 9. Very smooth transit and yet a very big leap. I was up and running in no time, and yet it's so powerful. Love it...
I doubt any of the other sequencers are better miditools, I've seen that mentioned as one of Sonar's strengths so many times.
I'd...
I remember the NX being called "a tragedy" on hammersounds soundfont newsgroup, and that was mostly about the midi side of things. It seems it has a 16 MB soundfont limit and isn't even capable of playing back those 16 MB correctly, that is - it messes up the miditiming somehow...
No first hand...
I use a Samson Q5. It's good for the money I gave (around $60 somewhere). It has five outputs and is linkable if you need more outs, or you could probably go the "Behringer route" and split the outs. Never needed that though, and it kind of defeats the purpose in my eyes.
Been using it with AKG...
Yep...
I've used plenty of software that had dongles or didn't allow me to make a backup (actually I bought one last year unknowingly, that was the one thing I was stupid enough not to check out). I have been into computers for a long time both as a hobby and as a professional, so sometimes...
Well, I've been using Cakewalk since DOS-version 2. So guess what I'm voting for...
I used to think that Cubase had more features but was harder to use (for me) and had more bugs and worse support. That's an acceptable trade off for some people probably. But nowadays I think the "more features"...
I'm a programmer, I know and use several languages including C as one of the primary. A long time ago (late 80's maybe) I made a few things in both assember and C and found that you had to be a pretty good assembler-programmer to beat the compiler. Later experiences confirm this. If you find...
I have a real early one, it's probably been rewritten a few times, but that one's good but not modern - quite the opposite of vague really. Craig Anderton seems to know what he's talking about most of the time, I wouldn't hesitate buying a book by him. If he was wrong about some basstraps (those...
I don't remember actually using any of them. But I had several of them installed with PA9 (and showing up) on 98SE without a problem. Most dx-plugins work fine of course, as dx is Cakewalks native plugin-format.
Thanks, I have the standard-version. I didn't even know Cakewalk came in multiple languages and they were a bit unclear on the download page. I generally prefer my software in english. Seems to spare me some grief...
I got the patch on the 6:th though - so I won't bother with this one if the...
I don't think I'm doing better music now then I did with the fourtrack (sad really). But I like toys! Next time I feel like I'm not getting anywhere I'll fetch it though. I've experienced the inspiration by limitation-effect on occassion.
Somehow I do feel closer to the recordings I've done...
Some hints to aid in furter search:
Guitar legend Les Paul is normally nominated as a pioneer in homerecording, sound-on-sound and multitrack.
The DIY'ers was big in the early game. My first book was by Craig Anderton and in this was even schematics. Paia was a force.
As I recall Teac...
