    alternatives to XP-80

I have the Juno G - awesome little box. It's pretty close to everything you need in a little box, with up to 2 minutes sampling also. It's a different animal from the Juno D.

    Which midi keyboard.

That';s funny, because I believe those are are randomized adverts. Have they managed to target them by looking for keyboards in the initial posts yet? I wonder..... I have both a Studiologic and a Keystation pro. For pure playing, I prefer the Studiologic. Asw a modern controller, got for the...

    External Word Clock

I honestly believe that adding a big ben to my system helped a lot. Most of that discussion involves really great top of the line gear anyways. I doubt even they would argue that the clock in the Big Ben is better than that in the firepods and would make an improvement. Now, is is cost...

How did you get your 1st keyboard?

hahahah mine was the DW 8000 around the same time. I still have it as well :D It was HUGE at that time. I took a loan to get it, and learnt a hard lesson from that - never take out a loan to buy gear.

Midi controller advice? Looking for 88 keys weighted but not trying to spend a lot.

I use a Studiologic controller i my studio. I love it as a DAW keyboard controller. You should note though that it has no control surface functionality. It is a keyboard - a very good keyboard - but just a keyboard.

    ??? distressors?

Sounds to me like you're under the impression that the term 'distressor' is a generic term for a type of effect......... which is not the case. It refers to a effects unit from Empirical Labs called the Distressor.

    audio interface: Lexicon vs M-audio

But his point that all interfaces have some degree of noise is a valid one, and furthermore it's an important one, because all that noise is accumulative when multitracking. One of the major reason why gain staging is so important. Now, the Echo Layla is relatively noiseless, but I promise you...

Can anyone recommend me a studiologic keyboard?

I have an SL-880 and it's a fine controller. Might I suggest however, the Maudio Keystation? I find the Keystation pro has a nice action, and is better suited for managing virtual instruments due to its crapload of buttons, knobs, and sliders. It took me a couple of days to get used to the...
