    Well that's just gR8...

Picked up a little Fostex R8 off ebay the other day. It's in really good nick and quite neat. There's no 388's around these parts Johnnie so this is as close as I can get. I've hooked it up to one of the live sound Alto 4 bus mixer's I've got and it seems to work just fine. I've got a bit of...

    Boing....

Cumnock Ray, the old road between Orange and Dubbo. Recording last Monday to yesterday from 11am to 4pm when it got too danged cold to stay outside. Had a couple of four below mornings to deal with. It sure crisped everything/one up. Everything sounds great. :)

    Help on br 1600!!

I think they go into over-ride shut down if you push and hold down (for a short time) the power off button a few times one after the other. Give that a go?

    Had the Pleasure of....

recording this on a porch out in the countryside last week... '52 Gretsch. Just four mikes using the Glyn John's method. Unbelievable sounding kit, great recorded sounds & a great player as well. All brushes for this album, left handed & playing open hand. Did sound for them at their thank...

    Boing....

Whilst recording a friends country boogie band's new acoustic album in the country last week, outside at an old farm house.. A local came down from the hills to check it all out... Friendly little chap... At least there's no bears in Oz. :)

    Boss BR1600 as pc controller?

    1. You can't record directly to the cd only to the hard drive. You then need to mix to a stereo pair that's then burnt to a cd in 16/44 which can then be played on any cd player. If you need to get the tracks out of the BR1600 you have to export them via USB 2 as .wav files. It's very slow. 2...

    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

Thanks Daniel. I do have pre-made J Cards for the cassettes which I use if I'm block or lino cut printing but if I'm using the laser printer I have a template set up in MS Publisher then I print them both sides to 100gsm white paper and cut them with a craft knife. The actual sticky cassette...

    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

Hybrid I've been meaning to give this a go for a while with a live recording - track on the digital portastudios then mix to 1/4" and dub off to cassette off the 1/4" tape. I mixed it at 7 1/2 ips to an old 10 1/2 -1/4" reel that had already had at least 10 passes of stuff on it quite hot to...

    Soundtracs MX Story...

Ha ha Cory. My first recording board was a 70's Soundtracs 16-8-16. First it drove an 80-8 then a TSR-8. We made some nice albums on that desk and, as usual, I now wish I'd never let it go. I'm quite a fan of Soundtracs boards.

The Unravelling Pillbillies - Lonely and Blue

Every Thursday night we go 'round to Burgler's to drink beer, talk shite and have a bash in his basement. You never know how many or exactly who are going to turn up. Any number from three to ten. Last Thursday we had six and a half (Burgler's wife came down and did vox on a set) and I took my...

    Feck It

I've been mucking around with this for weeks. I've finally decided I don't have the pipes, chops or songsmithing to pull this kind of thing off. Trailer Park Angel Fuck it, it's only noodling around in the attic on some digital portastudios. Move on.

    Any Nagra users here?

RMGI SM911, same as I run on the PR99 and MX5050. On the speed switch there are choices for each tape speed - normal and low noise. I did look in the manual as to what they did and have tried the low noise option but I just stick to 7 1/2 or 15 ips normal for what I use the Nagra for. Cheers :)

    Any Nagra users here?

Mono IV-L yes. I use it for mono one & two mike location recording and mono mix down from our live to stereo 1/4" stuff. It gets used quite a bit. :)
