    CWPA 9 audio question

Thanks for all the feedback. It must have been the power of your collective wisdom, because I tested it last night, and the d*** thing seems to be working OK. I haven't changed anything as far as I can tell, but I agree it's probably related to signal path more than software. Anyway, thanks...

    CWPA 9 audio question

Hey, I'm back after a long absence and hoping someone can help me with this problem. I'm trying to multi track audio (myself playing both parts), and I can't stop getting bleed from the first audio track when I'm trying to record the second. All I can do is to mute the first audio track and "fly...

    wave file missing clicks?

It is a stereo file. I've tried importing it with both channels on one track in CWPA and with L and R in separate tracks. Results still the same. I opened a new file for the import, so the pan should have been in the middle, but I will check that out over the weekend. Meanwhile my friend has...

    wave file missing clicks?

I'm trying to collaborate with someone on a recording via the internet. He's sent me a wave file of his tracks with 2 bars of clicks as an intro. I want to pull the .wav into Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 and record my part on another track. I'll then mix down my part plus his intro clicks (for sync...

    sound bleeding

Thanks, I got it figured out. It wasn't mic bleed, I was using headphones. It was dumber than that. I had patched my soundcard's aux out back through the mixer for listening to some MIDI on a different project, and forgot to unplug it. :o Thanks for the replies, though.

    sound bleeding

Hi all, I'm back seeking advice after a long absence, and this thread is similar to a problem I'm dealing with. I've created some backing tracks in MIDI using CWPA, and have recorded them as audio onto a separate track. I now want to record a second track of sax playing along with the...

    CWPA audio recording levels

follow up I'm using Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, and have the input level there set high, as well. I think I figured it out last night, I turned up the input level on the mic channel of my mixer, and that seemed to help a lot. I'm running the mic into a Mackie, then running the mixer output into...

    CWPA audio recording levels

I'm running CWPA 9.x under Windows ME with a Pentium 3. My question has to do with setting audio recording levels. I currently set the levels so that the track's record level meter in the Console view is just short of 0dB, in other words, maxed. When I play back the track, however, I find that I...

    Signal path?

AlChuck, Thanks, that helps confirm what I thought was the case. You're right, I want to take the tunes to MP3 or something web-friendly, just to post samples of my work on a web site. Once I get enough experience and am happy with the results, I may commit them to CD, but that's not the...

    Signal path?

I want to record myself on sax, playing along with some MIDI tracks, onto my hard disk. For the sax, I'll run a mic into a mixer, into the line in on my sound card, and record the audio via Cakewalk 9. What about for the synth playing the MIDI files? I'm playing the MIDIs thru Cakewalk and out...

    Professional Cassette Recording

You may also want to consider getting a MiniDisc recorder and doing the same thing as the dual-cassette scenario described above. That way your final product is on MD, and the cassettes you make to send out are first generation sound quality. I recently bought an MD deck and have recorded...

    Korg XP3 patch mapping

That's what I figured, too. The XP3 is a recent synth, though, so I expect that it's GM compatible.

    Korg XP3 patch mapping

Tried to do some recording with a friend's Korg XP3(?) this weekend, and ran into a problem: When playing back MIDI files in Cakewalk through the Korg, the patches don't get assigned to the right sounds, e.g., piano parts play on a bass sound, drums play on a piano patch. Also had problems with...

    What am I missing?

For those of you following the continuing saga of my home recording experiments, I switced to a Sony JE520 mini-disc recorder this weekend. Still mixing guitar and sax thru the Mackie, then into the MD. I did jack up the analog record level, which will come into play later. Initial playback of...

    What am I missing?

Good theory, but not the case. Didn't record or playback in Dolby, or Dubly as they say in "Spinal Tap"

    What am I missing?

That makes sense. So if I record to mini disc instead of cassette, I should be able to get an acceptable signal level on the MD, since I've eliminated the mechanical problem. Can anyone elaborate on the pitfalls, if any, of recording to MD?

    What am I missing?

I'm doing some very basic recording of a sax playing along with a midi file, and not getting as good a result as I think I should. Setup: sax via EV PL95 mic into Mackie 408S mixer. Yamaha synth output into another channel of same mixer. All input sensitivites optimized, channel and master EQ...
