The only guitars I play now are the Epi Les Paul standard and an Epi SG - I got them both used but I think they are newer models probably less than 10 years old. I have a decent ibanez RG42d or something but it doesn't stay in tune very well although it is a decent guitar, I haven't picked it up...

They make a cheap little thing, I think it's called an icicle that lets you plug an XLR mic cable into a USB port. Then you could just get an inexpensive MXL mic for under $100 - Actually I think MXL might make a decent entry level USB mic too.

Sounds like a horrible experience, since you will probably have a lot of dead air and bad music, as well as partially tuned stations etc.
Anyway, if I was going to do that I would throw a radio in the trunk with a digital recording device (like the zoom). Then you wouldn't have to subject...
