I need a REAMP box for sending DAW tracks out through fx pedals designed for instrument level, then back again. IOW I’m looking to use pedals as outboard fx in a hybrid setup. IYO what are the best Reamp boxes? Other than the radial x-amp (or anything by radial for that matter), which apparently...
Thank you @GONZO-X
I was tweaking a tremolo/phase pedal on the bg chords as they rung out, slowly making them more intense over time. I also used a whammy bar for the bendy effect. Because I’m not used to holding it in my hand while picking chords it took several attempts to record those parts...
Great production - nice wah fills (I have the same wah ;)...it's amazing isn't it?). Nice guitar sounds well. I reckon it would be more effective as a shorter number, but that's nit picking really.
^^ Nice....i'm definitely giving this a go. Great tips guys, especially the "ear candy" trick. @JamEZmusic So you're basically retracking the same track multiple times (a solo for example), panning the layers around the main track, processing them to all f***, compressing perhaps, then burying...
Yeah that makes sense!
I've since come accross another album that make use of this method to the extreme - Loveless by My Bloody Valentine - the whole album is in mono, so obviously everything's crammed together, and while not very 'hifi' it still sounds awesome.
When discussing guitar layering, a common method often suggested is panning guitars opposite each other, either hard-panned, or 50-50. You seldom hear about guitar parts stacked directly on top of each other to alter their character. I'm thinking of trying this out for my next session. Does...
Guys, I’m looking for advice on how to best incorporate a Kingsley preamp (Juggler) into my fx loop, along with a torpedo cab (Juggler > TC. What is the difference between connecting to the send or return, and what is recommended?
Edit: ok, I’ve looked into this, and assuming I’ve understood...
It's actually the 'classic player' series rather than the 'fender player'...but yeah, the same reasoning applies i guess. The price difference is about 4-500, and i'm in no rush to buy really, so considering it'll probably be my main guitar i'll save up for the american pro. Glad I didn't buy on...
What do you guys think of this guitar? I’m looking for a new “number one” that’s easier to play than my John Mayer 2011 strat. While it sounds great, my small hands have a tough time playing chords towards the nut. I play mostly psychedelic, surf and shoegaze so the trem arm gets used a lot. I...
Cheers Gonzo for the listen - I might use multiband compression on those lowest notes, even though i've never used it before, but now's probably the time to learn!
Guitar is a Stratocaster into a bunch of tube driven preamp pedals > Treble Booster > Torpedo cab with with power sim on >...
As a fan of the original, I thought you did a grand job - loving the guitar tone and vocals, as well as the smokey (?), slightly lo-fi vibe
EDIT: There's me thinking the SRV version was the original, haha!
Thanks jimi for the feedback. I like to take my time with the low end so that’s great it’s having the desired impact
re: your avatar: electric ladyland is one of my fave albums, and also one of my main references for trippy production :) Eddie Kramer and Jimi were so ahead of their time.
