The AC30 is an excellent amp.....I actually think that the Bogner copy is even better, have you heard it? But yeah, I know what you mean, but really I don't understand how someone can think that a Line 6 is better then an AC30, or a Bogner, etc.

I prefer tube amps by far, but if you get a 4 x 12 cab, a solid state can work out well. The only reason that I'd ever get a solid state over a tube is for versatility though. Tubes are just...........better.

Vintage 30's, of course :) You can't go wrong with those speakers, they sound amazing with anything.

Just get him one of those guitars with the built in amplifiers, they are very small, fun for youngsters, and will definitely do the trick. They are probably pretty affordable as well.

I share the exact same philosophies as you Groucho. I would never and I mean NEVER buy anything like this off of Ebay. I have a friend who baught a Vox AC30 on Ebay, and the one he got sounds a lot more compressed then the normal Vox AC30. It just shows you how much amps differ like guitars...

Wow that's excellent. So how would these Avatars sound compared to a Mesaboogie 4 x 12 with Vintage 30's? When I tried out the Shiva, I played it through one of these, and it sounded amazing. And I've also heard from others that the Bogner cab sounds best (priced at 1000 vs. the Mesa's 800)...

Get a Bogner Shiva .... expensive, but so worth it. Read reviews, all of them are beyond excellent. Find a place near you that sells them, and try one. I just did a couple of weeks ago, and it blew my ears away. Better clean channel than ANY Fender, Vox, Marshall that I've heard, and...
