    "Mr Sammy"

Cool song! Reminds me of Ray Davies/The Kinks. I think I'd like to hear a little more guitar in the mix. The 'Mr. Sammy' voice at the end cracks me up. 'I'll be hiding under your bay-yud':D

    Any comments appreciated

I liked the song, guitar & vocals sounded good. Drums I thought were too bright & loud in the mix & I'm not crazy about the effect on the snare. Is there a bass in there, or just guitar?

    The Bullets

I should have used a more exciting header. Or maybe everyone's busy with the 'challenge' (good idea). Anyways, anyone else care to listen?

    How crappy are my mixes

I can't comment too much on the mix, because I'm listening on computer speakers, but I like the song. One thing you might try is a short delay on the keys in the intro panned to one side. The vox seem a bit dry for my taste, too. Understand, though, I'm a delay junkie & not a pro-just my...

    The Bullets

The overheads were a pair of mxl 603's through a dmp3. I'm not sure what kind of cymbals were used-they used our drummers cymbals, so I can find out easy enough. His ride kicks ass-best peice in his entire kit. This was recorded in a warehouse & the sound in the room was great. I used a pair...

    The Bullets

I recently recorded a demo for these guys. The first band other than mine that I have recorded & the first time I got to use my new mics (beta 52, ECM8000's, & mxl603's). http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=2649&alid=-1

Hey guys. I'd like your opinion of this song

Joro is right-the other 2 songs are downloadable, but Sinistry is not & the buffering is taking forever There's a lot you can learn here on this board. I like the song, but the vocals are overpowering everything else. The tone on the rhythm guitars is muddy & the bass seems thin. Do like...

    "The Play" (Not-Quite-Broadway version)

I liked this one a lot. I've been away from the mix clinic for quite a while, so I haven't yet heard the other versions (can't decide if I want to either). Guitars sound great & I love all the crazy stuff between verses.

Looking for opinons for my first large diaphragm condenser

I'll second the B3. It's done me well on vocals, acoustic guitar, and guitar amp. And the multi pattern makes it more versitile. You would also have some cash left over for a pre or maybe a pair of ecm8000's for the 'ambience' mics.

Does anyone make a polarity reversing xlr connector?

Thanks-I understand now. I'll try the things you suggested tomorrow & let you know how it goes. The Carvin gear is relatively inexpensive, so it wouldn't surprise me if that is the culprit.

Does anyone make a polarity reversing xlr connector?

Also, please explain "the old pin 1 problem" and "common mode rejection"

Does anyone make a polarity reversing xlr connector?

You know, I'm not sure if we tried going through the pre without the phase reverse switch on. I'll try that tomorrow. We have a Carvin powered mixer (which one I'm not sure-I can get back to you on that) and the ART TPS mic pre. The mics are sm57's, a peavey dynamic, and a carvin dynamic (not...

Does anyone make a polarity reversing xlr connector?

skippy- Thanks for the reply. We have tried running through a power conditioner and a voltage regulator, using a ground lift plug, and running everything in the room from one outlet (both an outlet in the room & another outlet on a different circuit). According to another post I read, this...

Does anyone make a polarity reversing xlr connector?

I just want a basic connector that switches polarity. I see Shure has one that is switchable for $52, but that's more than I want to spend & I dont need the switchability. I guess I can always make my own, but if someone makes a cheap one, why bother. I need it for connecting to our PA...

What the hell??? Funky wave file.

Normally when I look at a wave file, it is more or less symmetrical above & below the center line. I recorded a bass track the other day that has all of the action above the center line & not much going on below. I can't tell how it effected the actual sound of the track (I wasn't crazy about...

I hate to be selfish but......

My sweat not only corrodes my strings, it corrodes all the hardware as well. Even with me washing my hands before I play, my strings only last for 2 nights of playing. I recently bought a new guitar. In a month or 2, all the hardware on the body had begun to rust & the gold plating on the...

    One thing still confuses me...

I was going to post the following question: Can I take a prerecorded track out to my mixer then run it to a guitar amp to be miced & re-recorded? But then I realized this brought up many more questions for me. Anyways, I think what I want to understand is this: How do +4 and -10, high & low...
