with 128 mb of ram? good luck. the really cheap titles will be all you can use but you'll be limited. I tried running reaper on a dell gx150 (P3 996 MHZ with 512 MB RAM) and i could barely lay down two tracks let alone add effects and what not without hanging everything up.

It would also be smarter to save it all to the computer's hard disk first, and then transfer it to the external or flash or whatever

I would say stay away from the frontman series. Personally, I didn't like the sound. Then again, that's me. I'd say go with a VOX or search around for a decent used tube amp ( it's possible you know since most of my amps are used)

yep I'd have to agree with that one. being 17, I know alot of my friends also see instruments and automatically are drawn to them like flies to.... well you know I mean really at this point why not just convert the master bedroom to the theater and live in the studio! hah :)

I usually find something, see the price, then go straight to my good pal EBAY. Even then though, I always would do cash versus taking out a loan, too much trouble in the long run.

Another option would be to change the jumper setting to "slave" versus "master" or "cable select"

really now, I 've read that it has selectable phantom for half of the channels at a time. looking at it again though couldnt you just hit both buttons and make everything phantom?!? So looks like you all are in agreeance that I should go with the Tascam?

Funny I come upon this thread now because i'm in the same spot. I'm torn between the tascam and the firestudio the only negative side of the tascam looks to me like the limited phantom power any input on which one? other than the $100 difference!!

I believe I've heard Dell still offers XP not 100% sure though check tigerdirect.com or newegg.com they have xp computers on there im sure and if not see if you can just get ahold of a computer that supports xp and just buy the operating system. don't forget your drivers though
