4-5K?
Wow, you can do a lot with 4-5K, especially if you already have a computer (that is if you want to record on your comp, which would probably be your best bet). The difference between a mixer and a multitrack is that a multitrack actually records the audio, a mixer routes your music into a...
Ok, sorry, anything but a marshall stack sucks. their smaller amps have no tone. the pod is a good idea, running it into your amp and micing it or running it direct both give good results. I record with Pod, I play live with Pod through a peavey 2X12.. no complaints.
You are going to need a mutli input sound card. Gadget Labs sells some nice ones, that and a mixer. The mackie 1202 is a very cool unit. then you will have to get monitor speakers, and a compressor would be good as well.
LI Slim is correct.
Acoustic guitars need to be mic'ed. The pickups are never better than a good condensor or two. You can get a bassy sound by pointing it at the body, more trebly if you point it at the neck/body joint, and real bright if you point it at the neck about the 7th fret. Two mics...
best advice would be to lower your action, set up your truss as good as you can, and THEN do the intonation. Intonation gets crappy on the higher frets if your strings are too far away from the neck. So get your strings as low as you are comforatble with, and then intonate with a good tuner as...
Optek Guitars
These people sell guitars with the lights built-in to the fretboards: http://www.optekmusic.com/
If you are looking for a kit to add lights to your guitar, go to a magazine store and pick up an issue of Guitar World and look in the advertisement section in the back, there is...
there are companies that make conversion necks for standard guitars that are longer and will therefore give you correct tension and intonation (pretty well turns your guitar into a baritone). i have no problem tuning down to C# with my yamaha strat, had to adjust truss and height, but i think A...
mmmm... ESP
If I were to buy a new guitar, I would go with the ESP LTD series. one with the EMG pickups would be the best, unless you are planning to upgrade.... mmmm... dimarzio evolution is awesome. anyways, have fun with your guit!
ugh...
Do not buy an amp with an aluminum speaker, they're cool, but if it blows, where the f#ck are you gonna get a new one on short notice? I don't think its a good choice for live applications.
I would go with either a Yorkville (canadian brand, i dunno if they are sold in the states) or a...
torn between two choices...
I'm still tryin to decide between the ADAT and the MD8, it doesn't help that im poor from working part time and going to school... but what are ya gonna do? if i get an 'all in one' it will probly be the MD8.
in my unedgimicated opinion...
you'd probably be better using a 57 or something for the toms, an NT2 would most likely pick up everything in the kit so its best to put it as an overhead.
damn!!!
Thats a nice deal... Too bad if I ordered that I'd get raped by border taxes (live up in canada). but its definately something i can look into.
Hey, exactly how good are the two mic pre's on the MD-8. probably not as good as the pre's on a mackie board obviously, but how do they sound on vocals? anyone tried them with a grand piano? thanks...
I want removable media because it's cheaper than buying another hard drive for a HD based multi-track, and i also like the idea of having all of my stuff on a disk that won't be damaged if it gets bumped hard during transit or somthing.
I live in canada, and for me to get a mixer with 8 mic...
