Ethan- I can move my console/desk etc..to the 11 foot wall but that only leaves me about 7ft to work with to keep from obstructing that doorway. This puts one of my speakers almost directly in the corner. Will this be doing more damage to the sound than I already am by firing into the small...
You might look into a Mesa Nomad 45. They sound pretty rocking when pushed hard (similar to the oranges). The Engl fireball is a no frills amp like you are describing with lots of gain. Really great sounding amp. You could probably also score a Peavey 5150 for pretty cheap used. I only like...
Your results may vary but a good engineer could handle this. You can still have your instruments isolated and play "together". If you don't mind headphones then you could get pretty much complete isolation. If headphones are a problem, then some gobos or smart use of mic placement could make the...
I picked up 12 boards of OC 703 yesterday to begin treating my room that serves as my home studio and rehearsal space. The room is 16' x 11.5' with 8' ceilings. One 16' wall has two exterior windows on either end of the wall. One window is 2' from the corner and the other is 3' from the corner...
If your running Windows it is pointless to have more than 4gb of ram. PT doesn't support a 64bit version of windows yet so you will only be able to utilize close to 4 gigs of ram anyways. Having said that, I run some pretty big sessions on a PC with 4 gigs of ram and an INTEL Duo Core chip and...
First off, are you shopping for a 7 or a 6 string? I own both but there are things that I would look for depending on which one you are buying. I haven't played either of those particular models but I have played quite a few models of 7 string guitars. All of the Schecter's I played were the...
Another good way is to attend local shows that are similar to the genres that you are interested in performing within. Try to network with people at the show's etc...Also, make sure you have a listenable demo of yourself playing some things that showcase your strongest points as a musician or...
My ibanez rg7621 has a large amount of buzz when I plug into my Engl Blackmore signature 100. It is substantially reduced when I touch the volume or tone pot. Is there anything I can do to better ground this guitar or reduce the noise? There was always a little buzz or hum but I think it became...
I am going to be taking advantage of Georgia's tax free weekend with the purchase of a new laptop. This won't be primarily for recording (I already have a designated computer for that) but I thought it would be nice to have it be compatible with Pro tools in case I need to do some remote...
When you say, it hasn't worked since, what exactly do you mean? It will no longer power on? Signal passes but no effect? Signal passes but is only with the wah effect? Give more details and someone might have some answers. Also, I think I would post this in the guitar forum.
Up for sale is a pair of DBX 163x compressors. They both are in good working condition, cosmetically they have a little rack rash and somewhere along the line, someone thought it was a good idea to shorten the power cables. No big deal as long as you have a power strip in your rack case. I have...
Yes, the black layer seems to be the culprit. On the cables that I had redone a few times and got working, the black was back enough that it wasn't touching. I went back and redid the others and they are now working fine as well. I just assumed the black was part of the "tip" wires jacket. Boy...
Now this is all starting to make sense. If the black part is part of the shield then I have been basically butting it right up against the "tip" connector when I pull the tip wire through the loop. I had no idea, amazing what you can learn on the internet. :)
I also picked up one of the heat...
Thanks for all the info guys. The cable is Canare with a braided shield. The cables I am soldering are very short like 8-12 inch patch cables. The solder says 60/40 rosin core "this product contains lead".
I will take some measurements with my meter in a little while and try some of the tips...
I'll have to check but I am pretty sure its rosin core, I picked up at Radio Shack a while back. I am at a loss for the night. I have 3 fully functional patch cables and I have re soldered enough times to have done at least 4 more.
