I love this kind of stuff so this is right up my alley. The guitars/playing are really good. The drums being programmed doesn't bother me that much, they sound pretty damn close for melodic death. There is definitely something weird going on with the Crash cymbal. When the drums stay on it...
I've got one in my Live rack and though it was $80, I can't count how many times I have needed something and HAD it in my drawer....sharpies, tape, screw driver, flash light, strings...etc..I suppose I could carry around a tackle box or something similar with all this stuff in it but having it...
Ray C - appreciate the feedback. Crimson is most certainly awesome! I can see where the "metal" aspect of this might be a turn off to someone who may be more interested in the prog aspect. I guess we are pretty much a metal band in Prog clothing haha.
Yeah we are releasing this one instrumental. We tried out quite a few singers but haven't found the right fit. We like to jump around stylistically and we found that vocals were the one thing that was keeping us from being able to do that as freely. I am sure there is someone out there, we just...
Everything sounds pretty good. This is definitely a taste thing but the drums sound really sterile. They are programmed right? If they aren't I would seriously consider using more room sound, less triggers/sound replacement.
Not bad, reminds me of The Mars Volta maybe even Minus the Bear at moments. Mix seems to lean a little heavy towards certain instruments at times. I am on my laptop so take it for what it is worth. At times the drums seemed very small/in the background compared to the guitar/synth. Bass guitar...
Hey fellas,
it has been a while but I wanted to share a new Progressive Metal project I am involved with. We just posted our entire E.P on our main website. Take a listen if you have time. Thanks For your time and feedback

Everything but the drums and one layer of...
I haven't used the others you mention but I can vouch for the FMR being a solid two channel and completely worth the money. I have an API 512c and to my ears the FMR is every bit just as good. I record a lot of heavy rock/metal for what it is worth.
I am not ragging on it either, I am just speaking from experience. How many times have you ever heard a drum kit sound in real life like it does on a Metal album? In most cases you won't. Same goes for guitars, there is just loads of layering/tweaking/quantizing/cutting and pasting/triggering...
Not surprisingly I dug the real amps the most. Would have been cool to not label them at first, to get a blind impression. The others all have a boxy quality IMHO. The Podfarm was my least favorite out of the bunch.
The 5150 is great for bite but if you do some reading on metal oriented producers (andy sneap comes to mind or Fredrik Nordstrom) you will find that a lot of the time they will blend a more mid rangey amp like the 5150 with a more bass heavy bottom amp like a Dual Rectifier to get those great...
My main guitar is a 79 Les Paul Custom. I didn't pay 3 grand for it but I would. I have owned a lot of different guitars and it just seems like I always come back to this one. I can't vouch for the new ones.
I don't really have any good advice but I am guessing this style is tricky without an accurately treated room. The low end is out of control on most Dub Step. I love Flux Pavilion.
Can't really speak for the peavey but I have used the Avalon Ad2022. I found it to be very harsh sounding on most of the applications I tried it on. I preferred my Api 512c and FMR Audio RNP in most cases. If the peavey sounds better, use it.
This thread peaked my interest to attempt using my Digi 002 for Regular audio again. Not sure what is different now from three years ago but it is working perfectly now with Itunes and Mozilla browser. Crazy hahaha
