I installed the loopology CD which I believe gives me the free samples and loops. But when I view the samples each file has a name like this: _0CE945283CE14AA3940906DE47BDFFA1 Audition will play the sample, but it would be much easier if i could actually see what it is before opening the file.

The Yamaha workstations have very poor mic pre's to begin with. I would suggest you find the problem first. Take Bartman's advice and consult other's that use the 16G. Then upgrade the pre's. I currently use Great Rivers on my 4416, they are quite pricey, but well worth the investment.

Just how large of a room? Sound treatment of any kind?
