    Screamo song - need feedback

not exactly my taste; but here goes - drums are too prominent/thick, guitars are very far in the background. vocals sound good during the singing parts, but the cookie monster stuff the volume goes too far down for it to be effective. ( I don't get it, frankly if you can sing like the rest of...

Come on To Me - CHECK IT OUT

sounds good, maybe needs a little more verb in the vocals, maybe a little less mids in the guitars? the vocals kind of sit in the same space as the rhythm guitar, that's why I mention the mids in the guitar. tempo/tracks/song all very nice. C.

The Police - Driven To Tears

wow. (disclaimer - on computer speakers). I'd bring up the vocals a little bit, basically all the way through it. but, damn. nice job. C>

    Improvised Acoustic Material??

if it's not the foam stuff (only sort of carpet padding I am familiar with) then yeah it can kill off some highs, but I still doubt it would do anything for bass. got a picture of it? C>

    Improvised Acoustic Material??

it's useless, pretty much. that closed cell, very heavy foam you're talking about will not really do anything. There is no comparison to the rigid fiberglass product; it not even apples & oranges, more like apples & goldfish. cheers C.

material to wrap around heating pipes for dampening

I have heating pipes running through my studio space (hot water heat, not steam). Anyone have a suggestion on dampening material that is relatively low profile? I'm thinking of something along the lines of thick, tarry tape or some such thing. These are cast iron 2" & 3" pipes that I can get...

heres a layout for you, innovations. thanks, C.

air conditioning - anyone using portable (hoses) units?

I had a window unit before, and with my current equipment/music type it was basically inaudible, the specs I've seen have mentioned 62db (no idea how/what they are measuring). I need AC mostly for rehearsing & mixing, for tracking I can cut it off should I ever do something subtle.... I may try...

    You've Got What It Takes

very nice on pc speakers, I vote for a little more drum (teensy-weensy), also the comment about dropping some other parts during the lead part I agree with. damn nice though, foot tapping music. cheers C.

air conditioning - anyone using portable (hoses) units?

Hi folks, I just got the quote back on a "split unit" air conditioner for my little studio space; $2700. ouch. so back to plan B, buying a portable unit with two hoses that will sit on the floor inside the studio and duct out of small hoses. anyone using something like that? happy with it...

    Pop tune - Here I go again`

good job, I'm on pc speakers at work so.... only thing that really stuck out was the lack of definition in the bass, it was there, just really boomy. on the nitpicking side, it seemed to me that the vocalist should have been using more force to balance out the crunchy guitar... sounded kind...

My first crack at the grinder

very nice, this is on pc speakers at work. any problems you may have are underneath my threshold of detectibilty. nice tune, nice performance, nice sounds, nice work. could have been on the radio if I didn;t know better. C.

    new tune on me psr3000

sounds good. that's all done on a keyboard? even more impressive for that fact!. I'm listening on PC speakers so take this with a grain of salt... the shaker/high hat? is a little too prominent. Other than that, what's not to like? nice mix, nice song. C>

I'm getting a room of my own!

+100 on the preplanning. I'm building a small studio in almost exactly the same dimensionsas you. I'm up to drywall right now....... we'll see how it turns out. I disagree with the suggestion of divvying the space up though. 14 X 14 is pretty small, I'd try to keep it open and just acoustically...

    Forgotten Flower

listening at work - so limited critique value. yeah, something not quite right with the drums, the snare is really sticking out at me, sounds very dull/dead. also seems like a little too much low end in the rhythm lead more noticeable to me at the end. good tune though, distinctive lyrics. C.

    Need advice on this mix

listening on pc speakers, so not too loud. needs vocals. guitar lead may need to be louder, but you can't tell without the vocals. also might be squashed a lot? get some vocals on it and repost. sounds ok though. C.

very nice, work listening so no thorough critic, but very nice! C.

    I Hate Myseif

i hear the alice cooper thing too. that aside, imho (drums are fake right?) real drums would be a big jump up and I'd could see a heavier snare sound, and a little too much reverb at times. *disclaimer* - I'm on pc speakers at work, so bass I can't comment on. like the song though, vocals are...

    MOTU 2408 connections....

hey thedude. the firewire cable plugs the 2408 head unit into the pci324 card. should work fine for you. I'm assuming you're on a PC, not mac? the cuemix is for low latency mixing - you would run this and configure which inputs you wanted to monitor, instead of using the monitoring in your...
