I just got my Motu 2408 in the mail today and I'll be setting it up with a couple Tascam's. I installed the PCI card and the program went and installed itself ok and the wave program and CueMix. The seller didn't have the manual or the original discs or anything so I have been sort of doing this blind. There are no manuals online either that I can find. Is the audio console program a mixing/trimming program? When I click on the icon , it just opens up the sample rate, sample buffer, clock source, enable routing switch, etc. It also says o inputs active and 0 outputs enabled which makes sense because I have yet to connect the tascams.

It came with a firewire cable, Is firewire just a mac thing? How does the motu connect to the pci card other than the TDIF's?

Is there some sort of software mixer that one can control the 24 ADAT inputs with?
Any body help with connecting all this stuff?

The card that comes with it, the PCI324 has major issues with intel and amd boxen.

They only apparently work with Macs.

I suspect that the driver is not able to communicate with the MOTU PCI card.

hey thedude.

the firewire cable plugs the 2408 head unit into the pci324 card.
should work fine for you. I'm assuming you're on a PC, not mac?

the cuemix is for low latency mixing - you would run this and
configure which inputs you wanted to monitor, instead of
using the monitoring in your program (sonar, cubase, etc).

you can call motu and buy the manual for $15, they'll take a
credit card over the phone. you really want to go ahead and
get the manual, it made it much easier for me to understand what
was going on.

only thing I remember from my initial install is put the software in first,
then install the pci card.

cheers and good luck
