MIDI help - Pipe Organ project!!!

No. With a typical sequencer program, you could do it, but you'd have to do a lot of tedious setup each time you wanted to change registrations. Normally that kind of complexity would be handled within the instrument itself, using an embedded CPU. The combinations of ranks, couplers, etc., would...

    Need some calibration help

Specs are in the back of the manual, which you can get here: http://www.m-audio.com/images/global/manuals/Audiophile2496_Manual.pdf The peak analog input level is the same as the peak analog output level when it's set to consumer level, so I think your assumption should be OK.

    Need some calibration help

The specs I have say the peak output level of the 2496 in Consumer mode is +2dBV. This translates to +4.2 dBu.* If you want a +4dBu signal, set your generator to -0.12dBFS, and I think you'll have it. (You should set the 2496's output level to "consumer" in order to match the fixed input...

Need help connecting pc style headset + mic into a conventional soundboard

The ring of the "stereo" 3.5mm connector is supposed to carry a 5V bias current to run the electret capsule in the mic. If you don't supply that voltage, the microphone won't work. Don

    dbx on cassette?

Could work OK, but the main weakness of dbx noise reduction is its sensitivity to dropouts, which are more common on cassettes. No harm in trying, though.

    audacity

You can try REAPER for free: http://www.reaper.fm/. If you keep using it after the evaluation period, the cost is $39.95 for non-commercial use. A lot of people seem to think it's pretty good. Don

    audacity

What's keeping you from just trying it out? Audacity is excellent for free software. You can control gain, create fades, mix tracks, etc. Effects are added using plugins. The list of available plugins depends on your platform (Mac, Windows, etc.). A shortcoming of Audacity when compared with...

Keyboard problems.. And some other things..

Yes, if you have another sound generator with a MIDI input. (If you have a MIDI interface for your computer, you can use a softsynth.) For more information about using MIDI, look here: http://www.midi.org Good preamps are generally expensive. Generally, you get what you pay for. Almost any...

Keyboard problems.. And some other things..

The EM-10 only has headphone outputs, not line outputs. That would tend to make it unsuitable for serious recording use. If I absolutely had to connect one of these in the studio, I'd use a Y cable to split the headphone left/right outputs, going into two direct boxes, and then into two line...

    Beatles Cover Thread!

The thread goes on ... Bra-la-la how the thread goes on... O-Bla-Di, O-Bla-Da I couldn't spend as much time on this as I would have liked. So, I'm opening it up to contributions from the crowd. In particular, it could use some drums! (Phil?) The page linked above includes links to files...

Hmmm. I thought it was too wide before, so I brought some stuff in. If there is a version 3, I'll consider widening it. Glad you liked the bass. I was going for "fat". Thanks for the listen, Don

Since you were kind enough to give me a critique, I figured I'd give it another shot: http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=8011 Not sure which vocal verbs were driving you to distraction, but I thought they were pretty subtle. Sometimes I wonder whether I'm stuck in the 80's. I pulled...

    Alesis SR-16

Well, he's probably recording the output of the drum machine, and he was requesting "the systematic procedure by which a complex or scientific task is accomplished," which is one definition of technique. So I gave him a free pass. :D Don

In Compose mode, press RECORD SETUP. Then press PAGE UP until you see 008 BEAT LENGTH. Set your pattern beat length to 3, or a multiple of 3. That is, change 008 to 003, 006, 009, 012, or some other multiple of 3.
