What is the deal with drum mic kits?

I personally use a blend of Shure mics: PG52 for kick PG81s condenser overheads Prologue 16L condenser for hats and SM57 for snare You could buy a Shure PG 6 piece mic pack and just add on a SM57. Packs work great if you choose the right one:) Cheers!

    Juggs Pro Export Series

Fair enough:) My first kit was a cheap asian Royce kit. Never knew what wood it was;) Slapped some pinstripes/ambs on toms, pinstripe/PS3 on kick and coated amb/snareside amb on snare. I have to admit, while it was far far away from being a middle line kit, it served me well. Gigged with it...

    Juggs Pro Export Series

Juggs is a top seller brand here in El Salvador. They are cheap asian drums. They don't even state what wood their shells are made of. Juggs in Latin America are what CB drums are in the US. Why would you want to buy a Juggs kit? Gig kit?

    Paiste RUDE series

I've tried RUDE crashes, chinas and rides... Definately, RUDE rides have a powerful, piercing bell; from the pack, I would love having a RUDE ride:D Crashes and chinas just didn't do it for me. Just my 2 cents. Cheers Greg!

    Help me with my bass!

The test track came out OK:D, no humming! I'm satisfied now with the work my luthier did. Oh, and the denatured alcohol string cleaning procedure, sure brings them back to life:D:D Cheers!

    Help me with my bass!

Hmmm, it could be:rolleyes:. Probably the AC outlet I used to plug in the Tascam, at his house, wasn't properly grounded. Good point Tom:) I just have to wait until tomorrow (when the denatured alcohol string clean up ends); slap the strings back on, and test it here at my studio. How come...

    Help me with my bass!

Thanks for your repplies guys:) Ray, I asked him to leave the circuitry as the original diagram. I thought if properly wired (like in the factory) there shouldn't be any reason for it to hum. That's when he said it was a design flaw. He asked me if I wanted him to play around with it, but I...

    Help me with my bass!

I own a Yamaha RBX200 bass. I know it's old ('80s), but it sounded great when I bought it second hand a couple of years ago. In time, it has stopped sounding crisp, and a terrible humming is audible no matter what I do to my recording/editing gear. Now I'm really having problems when trying to...

    Speakers or headphones?!

Glen, I'll try moving them today, but I know it's not going to be an easy task. I hope I have enough time to move them back before opening time. Thanks again mate:) Vicodin?:confused:Demerol?...what are you talking about??;):D

    Speakers or headphones?!

Thanks Glen for your repply, that's exaclty what I needed to know:) Here's a little background of what my workspace is like: I have my mixing PC here at my pharmacy (yeah, I know, odd place;)). I have it right on the sales floor. I mix at my lunch hour, while the pharmacy is closed. Virtually...

    cep 2.0

When you say "splitting mp3 tracks", do you mean working separately with the left and right track? About the 2 sec gap, it depends on the software you use to burn your discs. I use Nero, and there's a box where you can chose if you want a gap or not. Welcome:) Cheers!

    Speakers or headphones?!

Thanks for your repplies:) Definately I will have to get to know better these speakers. I always test my mixes on a boom box, car stereo, and my home sound system. I did some experimenting today, moving things around, and found a nice spot at ear level for the speakers to be placed on. I...

    Speakers or headphones?!

After mixing with headphones for 10 years, I finally decided to try and mix using speakers. I can't say they are monitors cause they aren't. I have a pair of Infinity cabinets, fitted with 8" woofers and 1" soft dome tweeters. I chose this pair of speakers, because they are my finest sounding...

    Battery Operated Condenser Mics Help!???

I have a pair of Shure PG81s. They can be used with phantom power or batteries. IMO they work great and won't break your bank account:) Cheers!

    Overhead Mics / Snare Mic

I use Shure PG81s condensers, and IMO they do a nice job:); and, they don't break your bank. For the snare I use the SM57, and I agree with the mentioned above, there are better mics, but if you're not getting good results, it's definately not the mic:D I have to say, I only record for myself...
