Anyone have an opinion? Especially their hollowbody and semi hollowbody models....

    normandy guitars

You're probably right. On the other hand, why not aluminum? It's not like electric guitar players are looking for a natural wood sound. Perhaps, to be different. What I should do is go down to Ludlow Guitars and play one. Maybe after the ice storm.

    normandy guitars

Hollow body electric guitars; the body is made out of aluminum. Has anyone played one or heard one live, and have an opinion about them? Do tell. Thanks.

    Sinus Decongestants

Plain Tylenol for a headache is fine. Sinus meds are usually a bad idea, since they tend to dry you out. You're better off blowing your nose, steaming, etc. (and drinking plenty of fluids of course).

    What key?

I suspect that all the chords mentioned are major chords and that the numbers he wrote down are meaningless. Looks to me like a power-chord-type rock song in E. People will get over the Beatles around the same time they get over Bach.

    Setting Gain for recording vocals

Speaking as a recording amateur who has made the mistake more than twice, I agree with leaving extra head room. But if you go too low you're going to bring unwanted noise up later on. As for the singer, his/her problem could be a combination of lack of vocal control and poor mic technique...

My friend swears vocal range is a myth

I think that some people are just blessed when it comes to maintaining their voices over the years. Like some people can play tennis into their 70s but others cannot without getting new knees and/or hips. Of course I agree that we should eat healthy, hydrate, not smoke, not strain, etc. But...

My songs are way too short.

What I am about to say is not a criticism since I have never heard any of your songs. One possible explanation is ADD. Everyone has it these days. Get some meds. [This is a joke answer] More likely, you need to grow and mature as an artist and musician. If you read more (I mean...

    New Songwriting Contest

You should put up front in capital letters that this is free to enter (it is, isn't it?). Most songwriting contests rip off the artists so we ignore them...

Guitar Tuning and Temperament Primer (revised)

Well, I do hope that you refuse any further "sticky" threads. You had a dismissive attitude from square one toward anyone who did not unquestioningly buy into your expertise. Not helpful and ridiculously thin-skinned. I'm gone now; you are welcome to the last word as your ego seems to need it.

Guitar Tuning and Temperament Primer (revised)

Okay, okay. Sorry to mess up your perfectly-tuned thread, dude. But thanks for the proposal -- If you want to give them my advice, tell them that before they try to fix their problem by studying Equal Temperament tuning, they should make sure that their left-hand position is good (assuming...

Guitar Tuning and Temperament Primer (revised)

If you don't want to waste any more of your precious time then don't reply to me. I never disputed that the guitar does not provide pure intervals across all chords in all keys. I adjust things myself sometimes. What got me started with you was comments like: "....every other decent guitarist...

Guitar Tuning and Temperament Primer (revised)

Indeed, David Bromberg is, or at least was, as I understand it, the most prominent dealer of American-made violins in the world; he was the first serious dealer to take them seriously. Although recently he's been focusing on his performing (thank God for that; he's flat-picking real clean...

Guitar Tuning and Temperament Primer (revised)

Okay, back to this for a second. I mean no disrespect, but when I said name me some pros who use this system (meaning when they are on stage) I meant professional musicians, not luthiers or guitar-tuners. I attended the Clearwater festival in Croton Point Park this weekend. It was hot and...

Guitar Tuning and Temperament Primer (revised)

The advice you seem to endorse is using harmonics, which many guitar players do use anyway. So what else can be done (other than the buzz thing discussed above)? Name me some pros and tell me what special measures they take to ensure pristine tuning. How about some A versus B comparisons of...
