Thanks for the replies all! The reason I started cutting strings off was mainly to do with the number of guitars that came in with strings 'tied' on. Pain in the ass! So I just started cutting them off. I have always removed all the strings, thus enabling a good clean everywhere. Interesting...

I've written an article on how to re-string an accoustic guitar, but I've since had some feedback telling me I'm doing it all wrong? Here's the article. I used to work in a music shop years ago and this is how I did a re-string! Have I been doing it wrong for the past 30 years?

I had this problem. I did exactly what has been suggested here with the toothpick, (I used matchsticks and PVA) But I also permanently attached my strap to the guitar! by screwing through the strap. It's now been there for over 25 years.

What software/ hardware are you using? If you apply the effects through midi, you should then be able to just record the whole thing as an audio track!

The mic input on soundcards was designed for small personal mics (Like call center people use) They are no good for audio mics. To get this mic to work you need to plug it into a pre-amp of some sort. The problem you have is the signal just isn't powerful enough! I use a Behringer ub802 mixer...
