Look on E-Bay..for the Classic 30 Peavey..should find{used} it for about 300.00{U.S} or so..also The Rage posted a cool link to a Ampeg..I've never used one but it looks like its up to the task..Good luck :)

I used to run one with my MesaBoogies for my clean sound{it was the early 80's..LOL} worked well..The only distortion box I used with one was a Rat..not bad.. Belew used on for quite a bit..he got alot of cool sounds with it

The ViPre is very nice but a little pricey..The Great River works great also with ribbons{well most anything}..The Grace 101 comes as a extra gain ribbon pre also..I don't know anything about the Oktava ML52 it could be nice or it could sound like ass..if its the later then no pre is gonna save...

I agree with Ronan..Most of the guys I know started with a 4 track{me included}cassett..No menus..no futzin' around..You spend more time getting good sounds than trying to navigate a peice of gear/program..Good luck :)
