    Played with Garageband today...wtf

The loops and instruments in Garageband sound so good because they're from Apple's high-end audio division. The Logic Pro stuff is what brought us the Garageband packs. as for M-Audio Session... I'm really wanting to play around with it since I don't have a Mac at home (had plenty of access...

    maybe OT... video editing?

ltc is where there's a signal inserted into the video stream, right? ltc should work just fine... just getting it to synch up with a master playback will be the tough part.

    maybe OT... video editing?

i really don't know where else to put this... but... i'm looking into being able to do music vids for bands in the local scene... and i know i could get a couple good miniDV cams for cheap, but not all offer SMPTE time codes... i was just wondering if anyone here might possibly know (or at...

    vocal mic assistance?

yeah... i understand this... Unfortunately, we're all relatively broke, and can't afford to go out and buy four or five mics just to try 'em out for a home demo session. So basically, looking at one mic, primarily for vocals, and if possible useable for other things. But I think that right...

    Oh... My... God... M-Audio Solaris

holy wow. these mics sound incredible. a pair for under five bills? Damn. I like a lot!

    vocal mic assistance?

yeah... i believe we're going through some sort of low-end mixer into a PC... A Mackie, or Beh, or something like that. but i don't know exactly, but it's along those lines. Part of the reason why i wanted to get a decent vocal mic for it, and one that could also work on guitar cabs...

    Cad M9

Wow. that sounds REALLY nice... both musically and gear-wise. :)

    vocal mic assistance?

hahahaha... I can always count on a witty response from you man... :) And the reason why i'm helping him with mic selection is because he knows jack shit. he thought his $20 AT dynamic mics he got with his yamaha PA system were hot shit. Until he tried the 58 i brought. so he bought his own...

    vocal mic assistance?

alright... my vocalist is looking at picking up a Beta 58 for an upcoming DIY recording session... but for the moolah, i believe that you could pick up a better mic for the money for recording vox. I suggested the M-Audio Luna, and the AT3035 just to start... our limit's around $200 for the...

    Porta One manual/specs

Hahaha... 400mA... much better. that way i won't have to shell out >$20 for the adapter. :D and easier to find one floating around the house i could cut apart. Thanks man!

    time frame for fender amp

it's not worth that $350 without the original speaker, trust me on that. I sold mine for i think it was around there (maybe a bit more), a mid-late 70s model, silver face, etc etc... WITH a problem in the tremolo circuits, no less. edit: Mine didn't have the legs that allowed you to lean it...

    Porta One manual/specs

haha... trust me. I googled until the booze completely blurred my vision. and then googled more. found nuthin'. Robbey, you're a godsend, that's the very same adapter i need... But, here's a question... the power adapter is rated at 4000mA (that's with three zeros!), but the manual says it...

    Porta One manual/specs

I've got a Porta One unit floating around here, no power adapter, however... I tried out a 12v power adapter, and it powered up, operated and everything, however, the adapter was only 150 milliamps, so it didn't operate at full power, or full speed during recording... Anyone know of a place i...

    question about "upgrading" pres...

Oooh... see, I didn't know that the pres kicked out at line-level. I mean, it makes total sense, but yeah... i didn't even think along those lines. Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying that for me, chess. :)

    question about "upgrading" pres...

alright, I've been curious about this for quite a while... so say that you're using your DAW, and you have something like an MBox, or q10, something with pres in 'em. Then you end up splurging for an RNP, Grace, or something definitely better than the built-in pres. You could just run that...

    stupid mistake.....

in 8th grade, for graduation, our school band (that i was a percussionist in) was playing "Wipe Out!" for some odd reason... and seeing as i played guitar, my band teacher had me play guitar for it (my first public guitar performance ever, and what REALLY got me into playing guitar a lot more...

    Emulating a car horn

alright... I *think* it's a "tri-tone" chord, but since i've forgotten so much of my music theory in the past two years, i'll refer to it as it's commonly-referred-to-as name, the "Mr. Bungle Chord", since it was used a LOT by oldschool Mr. Bungle (and therefore by every band ever influenced by...

    Beginner Question for Basic Setup

last i checked, radioshack didn't carry an xlr-1/8" adapter... but they may now. Either way, this is NOT the way to go. I'll back the other suggestions of getting a small mixer. The Behringers are dirt cheap, but for a few dollars more, go with the Yamaha mixers. i like them a bit more...
