    TASCAM 3500...check this out...

He's selling a TASCAM 3500. Looks to be in good condition, but get this, he's selling the power supply separately.:rolleyes::rolleyes: http://cgi.ebay.com/Tascam-M-3500-Mixing-Console-w-Stand_W0QQitemZ380218686647QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5886ccbcb7

    Finally, a decent sized room...

Thanks for the suggestions. Regarding the 38% rule, That will put me 7'-6" from the back wall. This sacrifices a lot of space. I had thought about this before even cleaning out the shop area. One solution I see is to move the keyboard stack to the back side of the mix table. However, I don't...

    Let us watch you mix!

That would be like watching paint dry unless it was a very detailed video. I don't see how the engineer could concentrate on the mix though while doing this.

    Finally, a decent sized room...

The room below used to be my workshop. I've built so much in there I've forgotten half of what it was already. I used it to finish one room in the basement that I've already posted photos of, but it was way too small for the gear and recording. After two weeks of cleaning, throwing out stuff I...

    Pre-amps in TASCAM consoles

I've never mic'd up a kit before as I don't have the room and I haven't been behind a kit in over 20 years. I do like the way everything else sounds from acoustic guitar, to vocals, to electric guitar amps though this console. Thanks for saving me a grand+. Very good information about the...

    Pre-amps in TASCAM consoles

Well from what I've gathered from all of your replies, and considering that I'm happy with the way my vocals and guitars sound with the TASCAM pre's, I'll just save the money for a different purchase and continue on with the console pre's. I've used this board for ten years now and I've never...

    Pre-amps in TASCAM consoles

Thank you. That's what I was hoping someone would say. As I said, I'm not at all unhappy with the pre-amps in the TASCAM, so I guess I'm doing it right. I just thought there might be something I'm missing out on. I actually think these pre-amps sound pretty good to me, but as I've said before...

    Pre-amps in TASCAM consoles

Thanks for the reply. I'm not unhappy with the pre-amps in the console, it's just that I don't have anything to compare them to to know how good or mediocre they sound. I've recorded some really great sounding tracks with the on-board pre-amps using Sennheiser microphones. Each has a different...

    New Studio Mic

Not sure what a shit load of money is to you, but for both instrument and vocals I can recommend the Sennheiser 441. Ten combinations of settings, it's rugged (but I wouldn't drop it nose-first), and sounds like a million bucks, but won't cost you that. If you shop around and watch the...

    Pre-amps in TASCAM consoles

Since I've never owned an outboard pre-amp, I'm wondering what I'm missing. I have nothing to compare the pre-amps to built in to the TASCAM M-1516 I'm using. I've given a lot of thought to buying an outboard pre-amp, but, just how good are the pre-amps in these older TASCAM consoles? I'm not...

    Question about racks

There may be a whole stack of the same effects in a rack as well. One for each send on the console, but possibly all programmed differently with a different patch. Any extra outboards can be routed through a patchbay and accessed at will. Same with just about any piece of equipment. To print...

Powering things: Power Supply limitations per outlet, etc.

Outlets don't care how many items you plug into them. The circuit does however. As Moresound indicated, don't exceed the amperage rating of the circuit leg you're on. Add up all of the current draw of what you need to plug in and make sure it's less than the rated breaker in the box.

    how to reduce tape speed

I'm not sure about any damage it could cause, but it would really sound like crap, not to mention a high noise level.
