    Help setting up this room.

Don't put the desk in a corner. I'd recommend putting it in the middle of the wall opposite the door (the south wall in your drawing). You'll also probably want to cover the windows with something on the inside.

    Is There A Point?

You may want to look into Amazon. At least as of last year, they had a 'print to order' solution for CD sales. A friend of mine produced two albums that way and I was able to order them both from the website. No need to get 500 pressed copies made that will likely never sell.

    What's limiting YOUR recordings??

I just finished getting software and gear connected and configured for my little studio room. It's not as impressive as a lot of stuff I've seen posted here, but I have everything I need to record for myself. The limiting factor is definitely me at this point. I'm only just learning the ins...

Help! I need to Chose a Drum PlugIn!

I did a fair amount of research on this too because there are a lot of different options. I eventually went with Addictive Drums for a few reasons. The first was the sound. I was impressed with what they were able to get using the same sample but different presets. That led into the second...

    Help with multitrack recording

I would recommend setting things up one bus at a time. Clear them all out and add one. Label it as you want and try recording with it. Then add another one. Record again and make sure it only ends up where you intend for it to go. Once you've got two or three configured correctly you should...

Great advice for anyone doing/making music.

I think we're actually talking about two different things here. One is recording, the other is composing/performing. In both cases, a solid understanding of the tools and techniques available are necessary to produce high quality results. However, regardless of how you feel about others...

Looking for a transcription: Life is Beautiful

Hey everyone, I was wondering if this even exists. I'm looking for a printed transcription for "Life is Beautiful" by Sixx:AM. I've found a few online ones but I'd like something from a guitar magazine or the like. Has anyone ever seen one? If so, what magazine and issue was it in? Thanks...

    Newb Starting ~ Help Needed

If you have a Mac, it probably has Garageband already installed. Why not mess around with that a little bit. It might give you an idea of what features you like, and what you will need. From there you can start directing your search a little bit more.

    Cubase 5 Review

Looks like a solid review of a solid product. I'm still new to Cubase (used to use Cakewalk years ago) and am still getting into the hows / whats of LE4. For me, there's no need to upgrade just yet. For some of the more experienced folks I can see some of the tools being pretty good...

Is it really that difficult to be a one man band?

The latency is almost never the fault of the software from what I've experienced. It can be caused by a sound card if you're using a cheap one, but usually it will be the actual computer. If your computer isn't powerful enough then you will get lag when recording and playing back audio.

    bad news creature

Overall it sounds very good. I do feel that the bass drum is a little lost in the mix, and the rhythm guitar could use a little more brightness (just a touch). The levels are all good beyond the bass drum. Nothing seems to be fighting for audio space.

Some setup tips for new Cubase LE4 users

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new here, but I've run into, and been able to fix, several issues I had with my Cubase LE4 installation. My copy of Cubase LE4 came packaged with a PreSonus Firebox, but I thought it might be useful for other folks too, so here it is! The first thing you'll need to do...

    Metronome with PreSonus Firebox?

Well I haven't had a chance to try this, having run into some other problems with my Cubase installation. I've got those sorted out (which I will detail in another thread shortly). However, tonight I do plan to check this out!

Do you use a pick to play bass?

I would say that 90~95% of the time I play bass using a pick. The only time I'll use finger technique is when a song really requires it. Most of the music I play / write doesn't aim for that sort of sound.

    Metronome with PreSonus Firebox?

I don't have access to my gear at the moment, but I'll have a look when I get home and post up my results afterward. Thanks.

Best Recording Software For A Noob

If you weren't on PC I would say Garageband. It's really easy to get going. For PC I have only used Cubase and Reaper, both very briefly. I disliked Cubase a lot at first, but once I got it set up I started to warm up to it. Everyone here has made some good suggestions. Best thing to do now...

    Just finished one!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll agree that the vocals sound good, but the guitars are probably going to need a little more work smoothing them into the mix. I'm still a bit new to this myself though, so I sadly haven't got much in the way of input other than trying to EQ them a little bit. Good song though.

Your link takes me to a sign-in page, so I wasn't able to listen to your stuff.

    Metronome with PreSonus Firebox?

Hey everyone, I recently set up Cubase LE 4 that came with my PreSonus Firebox. I set up the inputs and outputs as they describe in the video, and can record / monitor with the Firebox no problem. However, in one of the demo videos he says to enable the metronome and just starts playing...
