I'd go with the second to as angle the traps like that will give the most effect use of them.

    Goodbye Studio

I still feel even absorbing across the full audio spectrum will leave a noticeably unnatural amount of high end loss which would have to be rectified. I agree with you in that the small the booth the more harmful the reflections become - and that for that reason a greater ration of absorption...

    Goodbye Studio

Hmmm, still not for me. I think its a balance - sure you want to absorb right across the spectrum, but I disagree with saying that you want to have a 'dead' room. Although I agree you don’t want reverberation on the recordings as that’s to be added later - you don’t want to take it to the point...

He's a link for the SOS article on Paul's booth. It pretty much gives you the instructions!! http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar06/articles/studiosos.htm

    Goodbye Studio

To be honest I disagree with you a little there. I think to cover the entire booth with suck all the high end and life from the recordings. It's commonly said that vocal booths are over done - sure you want to avoid those early reflections that color the sound but you certainly don’t want it...

    Goodbye Studio

The storage unit will help to a reasonable extent depending on what’s inside. The low end will pass straight thought the shell and therefore be absorbed by the fabric and things inside. Plus as the fabric will hang loose it will help absorb bass energy that way. The canvases will be almost...

EQ on a recorded bass track?

I and a lot of others ive come across find rolling off the extreame low - 30ish downwards, boosting at around 240 (as this is where a lot of the 'meat' is, plus cheap speakers will be able to reproduce this better than the sub bands) and a small peak to bring out the percussive sounds work well...

    Bass reverb?

asking for trouble - as im sure you know bass is very undirectional. Adding enviroment effects such a reverb is likley to kill all defenition and leave a very muddy sound.

    tuners

i use a simple £20 tuner. Its perfectly accurate, far more accurate than any human ear would be in detecting tuning mistakes. Its also lasted me 6 yrs so far, not a scratch. Its a quicktune one.

    Desk Design, Comments Please

I notice you have all the rack spaces filled. Is that the gear you have, or just example gear? - if thats the gear your have id add a few more rack spaces, cause there are no spare ones for any new units you buy.

    Rode NT3

You could do much better than the Behringer mixer, look into a yamaha one for a similar price. A 58 will be fine for guitar cabs, but a 57 would make more sence. The 58 or 57 wont have the low end response for a bass cab really, on a budget id just DI that. The NT3 is a nice mic, i like them as...

So easy a child could use it!

Im not sure how many people will agree with me on this, but i find Logic as easy as it gets. For me it just has a very simple layout for its basic functions. Plus, if you start to 'get it' logic will allow you to expand within the same package. Id say go for Logic express 7.1.

What im wondering is if i can conect it up via the send part of an insert point - or do i need the desk to have direct outs on each channel? i ask because if i...
