Vocals sound out of place... new mic maybe?

the vocals in my songs don't sit very well in the mix. they sound somewhat out of place, or karaoke-ish. it doesn't sound like the vocals belong w/ the guitar and drums. the instruments sound good, but when the vocals come in, you can definitely tell it's not a "pro" recording. i've been...

are RCA cable and SPDIF cable the same?

are they the same cable? like can you use RCA cable for the SPDIF connection. specifically for the V-amp2, cuz i'm thinking of trying the spdif on it, and the spdif IN on audiophile soundcard. can you use RCA cable for SPDIF? thank you.

recording in stereo with one input soundcard?

how do i have it so that cep records in stereo? i have a SBlive, with audiobuddy going into the line in. it only records to the left. the right doesn't record. i just want it to record the same thing to both left and right. hope that made sense. thanks

Proposed rig for PC rec newbie

i second the build a desktop idea. if you need it to be REALLY small, then you can buy one of the "lunchbox" computers at newegg.com.

    Upgraded to SBLive....LOL!

i installed the kx drivers. i'm not very impressed. they didn't seem to change anything really. the noise is still at around -60db, like it was before. eh. oh well.

    Upgraded to SBLive....LOL!

my cousin was throwing away his old Dell today, and i offered to take it off his hands. well, got home and open it up, stripping it of it's usable parts, and lo and behold.... the infamous SBLive sound card. so i just installed it on my computer, FINALLY hooked up my Audiobuddy, plugged in...

is there a BIG difference between a sbLive and recording card?

sorry to raise the dead thread here, lol. i decided i don't have the skills nor the $ to merit getting any card yet. i'm just gonna keep using the old setup for song ideas, and getting structures down, etc. once i have a bunch of worthy material, i think i'll plunk down the coin for the ...

    Starting home recording?

the mr-8 would be fine i think, but i'm pretty sure you'd need preamps for the mics going into it. if the mr-8 has built in preamps, i'm pretty sure their not that great. for an editing program, i would recommend cool edit pro. i think it's like 200 bucks though. you should check...

is there a BIG difference between a sbLive and recording card?

hmmm... we need some more input from other experienced users. especially people that made the jump from a consumer card, to a semi-pro recording card. oh well, delta 410 is only 110 bucks. that's cheap enough for me.

    Basic Cool Edit Question

so if your soundcard has more than one input, say 2 inputs, then cep automatically detects both of them? that's sweet.

    How does MIDI work?

i should have posted this in the MIDI forum. doh.... :D

    How does MIDI work?

i just have a bunch of questions about mIDI i know you first need a soundcard that can do midi, such as the audiophile 2496. and i know you need a "controller", like a keyboard basically. so you hook up the midi out of the controller to the midi in on your soundcard, and that's all the...

Minimum to get started on computer recording

well, the delta 1010 has 10 inputs i believe, and it's $279 at newegg.com. it says it has preamps, but i'm not very sure. this is the soundcard recommended most for that many inputs. if you don't need more than 2 inputs at a time, then you could get the delta410 or the audiophile, both around...

is there a BIG difference between a sbLive and recording card?

lol. i believe ChristopherM. if he says DAMN from an audigy to aardvark, my improvement would probably be alot better. i already have the sm58, MXL 1006, and AudioBuddy. i just don't have a sound card :( and when i try hooking all that stuff to my line in on my onboard soundcard, it...
