    Tentelometer T2-H20-2 vs. T2-H20-ML

Hey Beck, that's what I was hoping to hear! Thanks a lot! Cheers Tim

The cunning plan that was, ah, er, um, well wasn't

The real problem is that you're spanning one instrument (your drumkit) over two recording devices. Even if the sync lock is super tight, you will experience phasing due to the bleed across you overheads or bass/snare mic. You need to treat your drum kit as one instrument. Track the drum to the...

    Tentelometer T2-H20-2 vs. T2-H20-ML

Ok, could I use a 2" T2-H20-2 Tentelometer with ball bearing roller style probes for my 1" Tascam ATR-60? Does this work? Or do I need to get the general purpose T2-H20-ML audio gauge with non roller hard chrome SS probes. Anyone have any experience with one or the other? Cheers Tim

Yep. Something like that, hehe :D

    Lucky score: 2x Tascam DX-4D

Sometimes you just have to get lucky and score two DX-4D noise reduction units for 50 bucks. Auction lasted only one day and they listed DX-40 instead of DX-4D, that may very well be the reason noone else jumped onto it. Since I have a Tascam 34B lying/standing around, I just had to buy those...

Somebody is out of their mind...

Nice machine ;) Asking price is a tiny little on the high side though, hehe... Sometimes I'd just like to write the seller that it won't happen but then I figure, why bother? What I have seen happening, or what I think I have seen happening, is, people look at ebay to see what things are worth...

    shipping advice

In that case I'd ask for a photo of the boxed machine first. I know there are people out there who try to rip other people off but most of the time when I had a "bad feeling" about things like that, it turned out as just a misunderstanding. Some people mistake the box it originally came to them...

Tascam Cassette 4-track Appreciation Thread...Vote For Your Favorite!

Nice collection! The only experience I have is with my 234, but I can't vote for it, as it's not listed so I'll just state it in this reply ;) Recently changed the belts and now it's running ok again :) It's the infamous 234-L low speed version and you can disable the third track for slide...

Fabricating Timeline Micro Lynx transport cables

It's about 16 feet. The deck doesn't perform as smooth as your BR-20T but I think that's the difference of my deck being built in the 80's vs. your deck being built in the late 90's. Mine breaks by switching fast between REW and FF. I found that quite a strange behaviour but how else would you...

Fabricating Timeline Micro Lynx transport cables

Hey Cory, the Omron pins don't fit with the JAE connectors, it's a complete different setup. The dimensions aren't right and the Omron pins are insulation displacement whereas the JAE pins are crimp style. Regarding the twitsted pair cabling, I am not sure. It may have something to do with...

    Tascam M-3500 refurbishment

Hey AshokanKid, nice consoles you have there! Now you only need the additional full meter bridges ;) Just for comparison, I paid EUR 1,500 for one M-3500 but it had only a few crackling pots, albeit being really dirty. But it came with a custom stand, the full meter bridge and 9 unbalanced + 5...

Best way to hook up a -10dBV console to a +4dBm tape recorder

Ethan, sorry for the low quality scans. I updated the zip and uploaded 300dpi scans. Please check it out. I had a signal level chart in one of the earlier posts. I figured the points to tap into the circuit would be to the right of C005 so I get either direct -10 dBV in or post dbx of the...

Best way to hook up a -10dBV console to a +4dBm tape recorder

Fired up an 8 year old scanner, because the multi purpose scanner/fax/printer/whatnot went dead after 2 years of use. The scanner is still working nicely... You can download the ATR-60/16's dbx schematics here. Judging from the schematics I think I would have to tap into each channel's dbx PCB...

Fabricating Timeline Micro Lynx transport cables

Strange... I can see them just fine. Did you have problems with the pictures in the M-3500 or ATR-60/16 thread I posted? They're linked in the first post. Can you see the "direct link" to one of the pictures? I've done nothing different than before, so I'm a little puzzled as how to fix this...

Fabricating Timeline Micro Lynx transport cables

I just finished my transport synchronization cable. And it was easy :D The PDF file for the transport cable configuration for the Tascam ATR-60/16 (and MS-16) is called 70D086.PDF and you can download it in a zip archive from the timeline site I linked in the first post. Have a look at the...

Best way to hook up a -10dBV console to a +4dBm tape recorder

Cory, thank you so much for the schematics, I'll have a look at them tomorrow and post the ATR schematics. Hehe, I didn't see the putput amp at first but now I can't "unsee" it. Can't stop chuckling, either. Hehe... I believe they figured it was a good thing to put the balancing amplifiers...

    Tascam BR-20T Story...

I'm sorry to hear about the accident and I hope everything will turn out good. Incidents like this always take precedence. I don't think that the head stack is that time critical. If you can get one of those heads today, you could probably get one in about half a year, too. I'd just keep it in...
