I bought a midi-usb cord to load my daughter's keyboard into the pc and so daw. It crapped out in a few weeks. I'd suggest getting an audio interface with midi inputs as well as line/canon inputs. That way can go direct thru the capacitors etc of the interface box.

Bummer about Lightning. I like using it as I can put up my Mp3 without it being reduced to 128kbs. I have had an issue with it, I think when after my son loaded up his game video things so some strange files got inserted into the Windows 32 files. But, reinstall sorted that.
