I try to mix as close to -5 as I can. When using mastering plugs, I don't want to hear a different mix, just a more present, punchier, thicker mix. My 'pre-mastered' mixes are very close to the 'post-mastered' mixes.

Thanks guys. It's very rewarding working with musicians who care so much about getting it right. My favorite thing about the song is the background vocals. I tried to get make them very different from the lead. Just like the original, they are a completely different texture than the lead.

Rich... N-Tracks is a very, very good application. Like any piece of software, it was designed to work with as many hardware configuations as possible. If you have a standard hardware set-up, it will work very well indeed. Version 6 was just released, much more CPU efficient, clean intuitive...

Any dual core CPU is gonna be just fine running recording software. The quad core is best utilized for video rendering. For this PC based recording set-up, money is best spent on (yes) legal software, and hardware to quiet the PC - good, quiet power supply, quiet CPU and system fans.

N-Track 6.0 has be released. It's very fast, and very user friendly. Many improvements.
