    Master Bus Question! (Plug-in?)

I try to mix as close to -5 as I can. When using mastering plugs, I don't want to hear a different mix, just a more present, punchier, thicker mix. My 'pre-mastered' mixes are very close to the 'post-mastered' mixes.

Burning a final WAV cd problem

I don't know if it's the same in every burning application, but in general, you need to save it as a project, then write text to the cd when burning.

    live recording

as long as you already have everyhting mic-ed, have you thought of renting, or borrowing an Alesis HD24? If your FOH board has direct outs, you could use them. Otherwise, you could use the inserts-to-the-first-click thing. Once you have the tracks, you transfer them to a PC, and with some...

Hello Goodbye - Not the Target theme

Thanks guys. It's very rewarding working with musicians who care so much about getting it right. My favorite thing about the song is the background vocals. I tried to get make them very different from the lead. Just like the original, they are a completely different texture than the lead.

    More Beatles - Gently Weeps

With the panning, I'm not trying to recreate the Beatles mix, cuz frankly, some of them were quite weird. I don't have many restrictions because of being recorded live. Let's face it, many Beatles songs are so well known, if I do anything radical, it will be noticed greatly. What I'm trying...

    The Beatles - The Walrus

I do sound for a Beatles tribute band. We do this song, so I've heard it several hundred times. I've recorded it off the stage several times(see PM). You did an EXCELLENT job !!! Yeah, the strings sound slightly cheesey at a couple points, but nothing you should worry about. Very good vocal...

    General comment/question about computer software

Rich... N-Tracks is a very, very good application. Like any piece of software, it was designed to work with as many hardware configuations as possible. If you have a standard hardware set-up, it will work very well indeed. Version 6 was just released, much more CPU efficient, clean intuitive...

    New PC Spec... comments?

Any dual core CPU is gonna be just fine running recording software. The quad core is best utilized for video rendering. For this PC based recording set-up, money is best spent on (yes) legal software, and hardware to quiet the PC - good, quiet power supply, quiet CPU and system fans.
