    I'm finally seeing progress!

Here is the rack I built a while ago. I finally dug it out of storage. I'm going to modify it a bit before I actually use it again. The top area will be an additional 2 space racking area topped with a nice work/clutter area! All the gear was in my son's closet. Since he's gettin' old (16...

    I'm finally seeing progress!

This one is of the soffit for the computer monitor. This is the first coat of mud. I chose to mount the screen this way because I'll barely use the computer. If I use it more in the future, it's close enough to incorporate into the main mixer set up. Later on down the road, if I want to change...

Dig the LIVE romex hanging in the pic! Though it's live, it's more safe than it appears. John

    I'm finally seeing progress!

some real progress. This is the only wall in the iso booth that's done.... as a matter of fact, it's the only complete wall in the studio! :D It came out so nice that I had to post it. It finally feels like something's being accomplished. The gaps between the wood seem a little uneven and...

    Just HOW good are you?

Thanks for the reply..... My question was directed more to the skill of the engineer more than the amount or quality of gear. I should've worded my question a little different. More to the point, I'm wondering if many of us have found a "comfortable" techinque that yields nice results, and then...

    i just couldnt wait

I heard that! what are they now...... $40? That's almost 10 sheets of 1/2" sheetrock to help isolate.... or money spent better elsewhere altogether. I do understand the sonic benefits of having one though! :D

Sure is a lotta cable ?'s lately... here's 1 more

c7----That's how I have it in my drawing. Basically, it's 3 mic cables in a row. I just made an order from Markertek for some connectors. I'm gonna start with the iso booth. I forgot that I already bought about 120' of Canare' cable from them about a year ago. It's the Quad cable. I'll start...

Sure is a lotta cable ?'s lately... here's 1 more

Let's see.... I drew it on paper to help me see this through. Sometimes I'm very guilty of having brainstorms that leak out before I can articulate them. Here's what I drew out (in word form): Mic-Female connector of cable-cable-male connector of cable-female connector in LR wall-Cable through...

    Just HOW good are you?

For those of you with home/project studios that charge bands, are you honestly "equipped" to accomodate the many different styles of music and their relative recording styles? Do you recognize the difference in the styles of recording? For example, if you have a studio drumset already miced...

Sure is a lotta cable ?'s lately... here's 1 more

Sorry Frederic! I'll clarify a little...... this is what I picture my panel "assembly" to look like: Mic and mic cable to connector on the live room wall- From that connector would be soldered wires to the control room wall- The control room wall would have the opposite connector as the live...

    Irrelated Question about computing

What happen to techTV? They were based outta San Fransisco but now it's not even a number option when I flip through the channels. They were talking a lot about computer music and even had Rush on there a little while back. Anyone know? RF

    DIRT & GRIME Construction photos

Michael.... looking real nice there! I can't wait to see the guts go in. The amount of wood you've used seems like an absolute shit load! How many 2x's do you estimate you've used?

Sure is a lotta cable ?'s lately... here's 1 more

Thanks guys.... I shoulda phrazed my question a little different about the panel. I do understand the direct and so forth..... I just wanted to be sure that basically, I'll be using 2 mic cables for each input!? One on the control room side, and one on the recording side? Thanks, John

Sure is a lotta cable ?'s lately... here's 1 more

I actually have a couple of questions.... one of which is not audio related. First.... I need to run coax cable from my house to the studio (only about 15'). Is there any special coax that I need for internet AND cable TV or is it all the same shit? Next... If I build a wall panel with XLR...

    I'm finally seeing progress!

MJ, In that last pic of yours, I notice what appears to be a piece of pvc pipe and elbow attached to the window frame. What is that? John

    radiator + sheetrock = fire?

Frederic, What about a small tin sheet between the two? They're cheap and Hell Depot carries the stuff. JOhn

I did actually think of tile as well. If I see something that really gets my attention, I'll go for it. RF

18 ft ceilings in my live room!!! advice wanted...

The stackable units are not bad at all. In fact, they save money in the long run. I have a set that can be used either freestanding, or stackable and they work perfectly. the only problem we've had is that we can't dry our Cal Kink comforter. Other then that, they're very good. Check them out...

    What about this guitar?

Well.... I got it! I ordered it and it came in a coupke days ago. It seems to be a good quality guitar. It stays in tune, and the finish is very clear and shiny. I haven't really played it yet except through the POD to make sure it works. It's a very nice addition to my guitar collection. RF
