    Name that chord

Yeah, F#13 is what you're looking for there. F#13 can be voiced with the 9th (G#) too. An F#13 voicing I favour is A# D# E G# (plus an F# bass note, if you like).

Should've been a multiple choice poll, but I went with Jazz.

    Yamaha p90

I'm not sure it's a replacement for the P80 as such - as far as I know they're not discontinuing it. And I thought the P90 was already out, but maybe I'm wrong.

how many bits is the 1680? 24 or 20 or 16?

Just looked at the review of the 1680 linked from the Roland site. When you use MTP (Multitrack Pro) mode - it is 24-bit. As to the different resolutions quoted - I couldn't say, in this case, why - where did you read that? It's not unusual for DAWs to use more than one bit depth - for...

    p60 and p80

I've got the P80, and I love it. Great feel, great piano sounds. I've not really played the P60 properly - I played one briefly in a shop just to see how the action was (it was turned off) - and I didn't think it felt as good as the P80. Are you sure they're supposed to have the same action?

More athmosphere and space in my music.. How?

IME, AutoTune makes vocals sound dull, "flat", boring. Inhuman. And when used more than a little, downright horrible. That's not what's causing your problem (it's used enough on commercial CDs) - just an observation.

Sennheiser HD280 headphones - dodgy tonal balance?

It's not the mix - I compared with some Sennheiser HD540s, and they didn't give a nasal sound. I also tried them with my Yamaha P80 digital piano, as well as a CD or two (Jaco Pastorius - Word Of Mouth was one). None of these sound nasal with the 540s, only with the 280s.

Sennheiser HD280 headphones - dodgy tonal balance?

Well, I've decided to keep them - because they do have high output, but very little leakage (far far less than any others I've heard) - which is important for tracking vocals, in particular. In the future I'll get another set of phones - some open back ones that will give me a much flatter...

Sennheiser HD280 headphones - dodgy tonal balance?

To try and correct the nasty nasal quality they are giving my mix!!

Sennheiser HD280 headphones - dodgy tonal balance?

Hi folks. I've just bought a pair of Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones - and having tried them out - they do indeed have high output and very good isolation, as promised - but the response seems far from flat!! Compared to the other Sennheiser (open back) phones I've used - they've got too much...

    Vocoder plugin

The Roland VS2480 has a couple of Vocoder algorithms. The 19-band one is not bad at all.

    VGA Output - 2480

Yup, the monitor is a great thing. So helpful! Well, good luck - and post an update when you get the VS2480 :)

    VGA Output - 2480

Ah I see. I don't know what the consequences are of retracting your bid - but if you've got the money, I'd say do what you gotta do to get the VS2480 :) That is, if you're confident it's the one you want. I tried to be balanced in my review - but I'm sure there are AW4416 owners here who...

    VGA Output - 2480

Yes I'd definitely go with the VS (and indeed, I did!). Personally, I would say it's worth saving the extra money.

    VGA Output - 2480

No problem :) If you're undecided on the VS2480 vs AW4416 issue - you might like to take a look at this - it's a thread over at TalkBass.com in which I did a review of the VS2480 and compared it to the AW4416.

    VGA Output - 2480

Ok, I just checked the monitor issue - yes, you can play/record/navigate with the monitor & mouse. You can do a whole heck of a lot actually - the thing is, the monitor shows much more information on one screen than the built in LCD does.

    VGA Output - 2480

I thought that the CDR/W drive was the only difference. In fact I'm pretty sure it's the only difference - as both models have the same manual/documentation. I've got the VS2480-CD myself - and the manual that comes with it is for the VS2480 - not the VS2480-CD specifically. There are bits of...

Impressive stuff! Not my taste, personally - but well played, well recorded, well mixed by the sound of it!

    VGA Output - 2480

Hi there. I've got a VS2480 too. I've only a hooked a VGA monitor up to it once - but I found that the VGA display is fantastic! By that I mean - you can do *so* much stuff from the VGA display - it makes navigating the thing so much easier, and clearer. When you use the a VGA monitor with...

Give it a listen and lemme know what u think....

Sounds like some decent playing. As for the mix - I think it needs some work. I think the guitar is far too prominent, and/or the vocals, drums, and bass are too hidden in the mix. This wasn't mixed by the guitarist, was it? :D And I concur with the comment about the snare - I think it is...
