sound is much better...ie, the sound is controlled much better as before there were sound waves all over the place...especially when setting up for practice, eq'ing was a bear :eek: . actually have not practiced w/my band since finishing, but it is obvious to me that it will be easier as the...

thanks...no, actually a small 'control' area (mixing board/computer/effects rack, etc..). however, occasionally you can find some some items from a bar in there :D

after picture here is the kinda final producte...still have a few things to do, but is functional now.

before shot is shown below...in the basement of our house. was limited by budget (of course) and the house structure (100yr old house), but wrapped up a lot nicer than what was there in the beginning!

sounds like you have the mic too far in the drum (capturing the click of the beater maybe)? i place mine right at the edge of the hole (ie the mic is just barely on the inside...touch of reverb to that gets a really good, deep resonant kick sound.

i've got an alesis 12r mixer...been working fine till the other day...i was about to do some different mic placements with my condensors and noticed the mixer was not responding....checked my phanton power switch....it was on, then i notice the phantom power light is not lighting??? :confused...

colussus, i like it...kits sounds solid and the vibe of the music is really nice. :) not really sure that i'm following you on your 990 placement? so are you saying the mic is placed somewhat out front of the kit and pointed back? maybe i'm just stupid :o??

thanks for the post phil...i haven't recorded long, but i've always done it the other way...this is, i always micd my indv drums first and then stuck in the overheads AND never been real pleased...i am micing thru a mixer so not recording multiple tracks.....will try your way this week/weekend...

i'm having a brain fart :p ....what brand cymbal does stanton moore play?!!? those sound really nice in his recording (w/galactic, etc.)...hard to find someone that carries them to listen to first hand :confused: .

no doubt...in fact i've tried to buy sabian in the past and ended up going w/zildjian or paiste once i sound tested :rolleyes: however, i heard a drummer playing with a sabian xplosion crash (the one with the holes cut into it)...it sounded really nice :D ...may have to look into getting one...

mad-amen :) ! i believe the rancan's were wuhans with a different sticker?...i've had 2 (i think the last i've had for around 10 yrs)...they are really sweet! i bought a wuhan 12 splash a few yrs back just to try it out (i think it was 30 bucks). didn't like it for a splash, but ive got it...

what was your mic placement inside the drum at the edge, outside??
