    Another mix to practice with

Ahhh crap. Sorry about the 32 bit. I didn't get an option to set bit depth when I used the stem macro and I record all my projects in 32 :( I'll whip up a 320kb MP3 zip real quick Edit: Can't edit original post. Here's the link to the MP3s http://www.mediafire.com/?22gj7gkcjbt

Have you made the switch? (desktop->laptop, pc->mac)

The point is that not everyone HAS your needs, smart guy.

    Another mix to practice with

Hm... they're standard wav files... anyone else having trouble? Unfortunately I don't have PT so I can't test, but it works fine in Cubase and Reaper for me...

    Another mix to practice with

Hmmm, I guess being able to hear the song without downloading a huge file would inspire some people to try. Updated with a link to a quick mix

    mic a snare

Almost no microphones have one specific use. Condenser microphones (like the Blue) are good for picking up audio sources that require a lot of detail, which makes them good for overhead microphones on drums. Dynamic microphones (like the SM57) are good all-purpose microphones. Most people will...

    Another mix to practice with

Almighty Flying Machine - Homeowner's Association (375 MB zip) Quick MP3 mix by yours truly I don't really intend for this to be a contest (unless some people want to judge), just another band for people to practice with as it's a good idea to get your hands dirty with as many styles as...

    Download and Mix Contest

Actually about to render all the tracks and zip them up. In the next hour or so it should be done Edit: Make that a couple hours. 40kb/s up doesn't lend well to a 375 MB file.

Have you made the switch? (desktop->laptop, pc->mac)

You realize that's because the only system Dell offers with a 13" screen is the XPS, right? If you compare an Inspiron with a 15.4" widescreen and the rest of the same specs, it's right around $400 cheaper. There's a big difference if you're actually comparing instead of catering to the smallest...

    How's this sound?

No one but you is fighting about anything. The consensus is that you should have played something that sounded decent. When something sounds bad, people are going to point it out be it in the mix or in the playing. Performance is a lot of what makes a recording so if you don't want to catch shit...

    Musicians Friends XY/Coincident Pair

I've done ORTF with SDCs before, but was wondering how it'd work out on cardioid LDCs... might try it tomorrow.

    How's this sound?

The flaw in your logic is that you're saying you don't like playing root notes and want to be inventive, but say that it's impossible to play whatever because the neck's screwed up. Wha-huh? So instead of playing something where if you hear how far off it is you can adjust, you play something...

    Large Diaphram Condensors for Overheads

I'm a big fan of AT3035s as overheads. Very smooth and articulate, definitely not harsh like a lot of SDCs can be.

    Best Mic For No Sibilance

I'd imagine they would have a little more control over how they enunciate and how much of a "nasal" sound they have.

    AMD Phenoms?

Hm... didn't realize they had those problems. Shit, I'll probably end up going with an Intel quad then. Thanks.

    How's this sound?

Not to be a dick or anything, but why add the bass? It would actually be pretty decent without it, but the bass ruins it completely for me.

Radio station wants this song. Which version should I send and what's wrong w/the mix

Much better. I'd recommend bringing the overheads up, as I can barely hear the cymbals. The whole mix could stand to have more highs in general. Other than that, it sounds pretty balanced and none of the harshness I heard before is there anymore. Edit: Another thing you might want to do is take...

    AMD Phenoms?

So, what's the verdict on these? I'm thinking about grabbing a mobo and a 9500. Would be around $300. 95W seems really good as far as consumption for a quad core, but I'm wondering what the heat output on these is like... Also, anyone know of dual AM2+ motherboards?
