    Known noise, how to correct...

Yes sir. You are correct. DUAL MONO would be sent to his "stereo" input. But if I said that I thought I might've confused him even more.

    Known noise, how to correct...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the TRS outputs on the Beri ProXL TWO separate MONO outputs? And the Soundblaster card has a single STEREO line input? So wouldn't you have to combine the two MONO output cables to one STEREO input cable (using a Y splitter cable), then to an adapter? You...

Peluso 2247 Le or other vocal mic?

Peluso mics are awesome and the 2247 in particular is a stellar sounding mic regardless of the price. They may not be every one's cup of tea, but they are certainly not a gimic piece of boat anchor junk.

    Tuning My Drums

Just to get you through the rehearsal this weekend, try taping a small piece of folded paper towel to the toms batter heads near the edge of the drum. The smaller the drum, the less you'll need. That will control the batter head ringing you describe. I think you'll find that once the whole...

how to get the kick drum to stick out in the mix

how to get the kick drum to stick out in the mix

Are you sure it's getting lost completely? have you checked the mix on different systems yet? If so, first check it's phase. Then try to create a "space" for it with eq, panning, levels, etc. What other tracks are making it disappear? Find the bass drum track's dominate freq. and maybe carve...

    Known noise, how to correct...

OK. Next we need to know how you're connected FROM the Beri Composer. Are you using two XLRs down to a Y splitter or the individual TRS outputs? Are the cables you're using speaker cables or a guitar cables? Are you operating this device as at +4 or -10?

    Known noise, how to correct...

Yup, you're right... Sorry 'bout that. Let's start here: On your 1/4 to 1/8 adapter, is it TR or TRS?? In other words, how many black lines are around the upper part of the shaft?

    Tuning My Drums

Sounds like you're off to a great start so far. Think of the drum set as a whole instrument, because every thing resonates. You can control this to a certain degree, but you're better off "fine tuning" the kit to resonate together. It does sound like it's time to change all the heads. If you've...

    Cubase SX Midi delay

How is your midi keyboard connected to the computer? What soundcard do you have? Are you using updated ASIO drivers that came with the soundcard?

    Sticks

I have an arsenal of sticks in my stick bag. The two pairs that I keep reaching for are the Vic Firth Dave Weckl model for anything hard and fast and the Peter Erskine model for anything soft and/or Jazzy. Both are wood tip models, which I prefer. Although I admire these two drummers, I'm not...

Miking Live Drums (live show) With Our Setup...?

What are you using for speakers, a pair of the Club V series? I say take the bass out and just use a bass amp. The low end is sure to make it in to the mix through the rest of the mics anyway. Besides, bass takes up a lot of energy and is probally robbing the amp of power needed for the vox and...

Click track, What do you use.

Do you know why I think the "click" became standard? I stumbled on the answer one day when I sent the click track to a spectrum analyzer. The click was completely flat across the entire spectrum! So if you're tracking bass, you'll still hear the higher freqs; if you're playing guitar you'll...

    Replacing bottom heads on toms

I think in order for this to work, the reso heads really need to be even across the surface and be free of dents, divets, etc. You'll have to re-seat the head on a new bearing edge... it's time consuming and a bit of a pain and you'll most likely be unsatisfied with the end result.

Rock Drums OH: X-Y or Spaced Pair? Kit also close mic'd.

Takk - you might be better off experimenting with both --IMHO the answer depends on some important factors- the room, the type/size/pattern of the mics, how many other mics will be used, type of music, who the drummer is etc. For my situation (low headroom using SDCs in cardioid pattern), I...

    Rumour vs PCM-91 verbs

I just installed a Rumour in my rack about two weeks ago. It is routed to the DAW using SPDIF. I'm using it as a send effect in place of all the reverb plug-ins and it's a noticeable improvement. Most of the presets are good, very natural sounding, very little tweaking to get exactly what you...
