Cubase SX Midi delay

I'm new to Cubase and need some help. I am using Vst plug in instruments and get about a one second delay from when I press the button to when I hear the sound. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks.

How is your midi keyboard connected to the computer? What soundcard do you have? Are you using updated ASIO drivers that came with the soundcard?

I have something like this except that the recorded track plays back out of time, but what I hear when monitoring is correct. In my situation, I have to shut down cubase, and start it up again, and everything works for about 20 mins .

You will want to use emulated ports to fix this. Do a search for this in google or on cubase.net. It's a simple solution involving a small file that needs to be moved to a different dir. to work. Once you do this, the emulated ports will appear in your VST connections and once you use them, your MIDI frustrations will be no more!
