    Memory upgrade doesn't improve performance

I would also be interested if there's a better software for handling soundfonts 'cause I like them a lot eventhough I have JV1010. Thanks Middleman for the info. Like phyl said I also noticed that EQ insert didn't change the meter reading.

    Memory upgrade doesn't improve performance

Thank you all much for all the helps and suggestions. My sound cards are Aardvark Q10 and LynxOne... and I don't think they're the problem because... After deleting the remaining softsynths (2 VSCs and 1 LiveSynthPro) the CPU usage reading is down to around 0-2% from around 35-39% ..... So...

    Memory upgrade doesn't improve performance

I upgraded from 256MB to 512MB but I'm still getting dropouts. Before I even play the song in Sonar the CPU is about 50% busy. I've tried several latency settings but it doesn't help... I have to reduce anumber of softsynth used from about 6 to 2 and use eq inserts less. Is this the way to go...

Guitar pitch shifting or my hearing problem???

Whewwww!!! Sure glad to know I'm not the only one having this problem. Not that I'm rejoicing, mind you. There must be some explainations on this. My drive is 7200 RPM so I don't know.

Help me pick a place to get my cd mastered

Hi Ed, I didn't know Wavelab has L1 Ultramaximizer. (I have Wavelab 4.0) Or is it known by any other name? Thanks.

Guitar pitch shifting or my hearing problem???

I'm unable to experiment now but I think my ear was trying to compare the sound that came out directly from the guitar and that of the recorded one and they didn't compare. The recorded one seemed to be a little lower in pitch. Seems like I'm in the minority here in this. :(

Guitar pitch shifting or my hearing problem???

When I play back a recorded guitar track I hear it to be a little out of tune. Even if I record only one string (say #1 string) I still hear it that way. It happens only on playback. I don't know why. I have no problem hearing correctly when I record keyboard. The string cannot be out of tune...

    Using a Delay in Sonar

Lastnight I experimented on dB ProDelay and got it work. (I started with dB ProDelaylite at first since it has less "knobs" to tweak) NOW the vocal is as thick as I want it to be and it doen't sound like singing through a pipe anymore and is no longer verticle at death center either. My...

    Using a Delay in Sonar

    Thank you much.

How hot should the track be recorded?

Thanks. That's what I got too. May be I need to learn how to correctly interpret the meter then. Some signals spread almost evenly from Low to Hi (from left to right) so I don't know what to do with them. ALso, I notice you're using super stereo. I tried it on the vocal. It sounds so...

    Using a Delay in Sonar

I find it challanging to use a delay effect. Someone (probably Sonusman) wrote about adding a delay so and so seconds for a vocal or acoustic guitar to make it thick. What particular delay plugins (since Sonar has many and I've downloaded a couple of them too) would be easy to learn and operate...

How hot should the track be recorded?

I tried to insert the Analyzer in Virtual Mains (isn't it the one in the lower part of the track view hidden, and labeled 'A' ?) but seems like I'm not getting what I'm suppose to get. Or may be I don't know how to interpret the metters. What Spectrum Analyzer plugin are you using? I'm using...

Using multiple mics for vocal tracking

Sorry I've tried search engine first but couldn't find any on this. If this has been discussed before I apologize. Someone here once mentioned about tracking main vocal, then another vocal track to spread left and right with a slight delay adjustment to make the vocal full. My question is will...

How hot should the track be recorded?

I'm appreciating every post here. Now I have downloaded the VST analyzers. Seems like you can analyse one track at a time. Initially I thought I would be able to analyse multiple tracks in one window in different colors, say for example, bass and drums at the same time. Now, I guess I just have...

OK in car but not on PC speaker- mixing ideas needed

Thank you all. TexRoadkill, I think you answered my question. BTW, I'm using Tannoy studio monitors. I think every music sounds good with the car stereo system. :D

How hot should the track be recorded?

I'm using a pair of Tannoy pasive monitors. My bass isn't that loud at all but I guess I can turn it down a little. The problem is with other tracks playing I would like to have my bass a little above the rest. Wait..I think I can use a direct box then out to both Sound card IN and Bass amp for...

OK in car but not on PC speaker- mixing ideas needed

I just finished mastering my first song. When I play it in my car it soundd awesome. It's kinda like FM radio music with hot bass and drums, etc. And high ends too. I use quite a few CDs to compare and mine is, in my opinion :D , comparable to some very good "quality" CDs. However, when I try...

How hot should the track be recorded?

It's a direct line in from my bass to Aardvark Q10 sound card to Sonar. Set up in Q10 is L1 (ie. Line in). I have to significantly reduce the trim level in order to record. My bass has only two knobs. One for volume and the other for bass/treble. The treble is all the way up.
