That's a pretty sweet link there, moskus! Could keep me busy reading for the next year or so! :D Thanks! :)
The stuff there just confirms to me though that I actually do understand how a limiter is supposed to work and makes the Cakewalk FX Limiter all the more confusing to me! Why...
I have questions on how all the Dynamics Processors work actually, so if anyone can direct me to instructions for them, I'd be much-obliged. I can't find them in the SONAR help.
I pretty much understand the Compress and Dynamic Processor for the most part, and I thought I understood the...
Don't know GT, but Cakewalk's site says one of the key features (of the latest version though - but wouldn't think this would be newly-added) is "Accurate envelope automation of mix parameters and effects". If they don't consider Volume a mix parameter, I don't know what they think that means...
Not quite sure what caused the mixdown to audio to be off in the first place, but, if the audio is off by the same amount the whole time, then you could just slide/nudge the audio track until it lines up.
Just recently bought a Fender Lite Ash Strat (from the very same Lombard, IL Sam Ash in Nateneal's story btw - small world) for around the $500 range, and I dig it! My price range was not quite $3000 though!! I was willing to spend up to a grand and, after playing a whole bunch of guits...
Well, the SONAR part of the combo is right on!! :D Don't know anything about the FIREPOD though.
Double-posting is generally frowned upon. Might want to close down one of the threads.

You can record a guitar in stereo, but in most cases, why would you want to? It doesn't really produce a stereo image unless you're using some stereo effects while tracking that you want to capture. Or, maybe if you're recording an acoustic guitar and have it double-mic'd, like with 1 near the...
If AlChuck's got the problem pinpointed, here's how I believe the 'What U Hear' business translates for an Audiophile 2496:
For my track input, I can select [Left, Right, or Stereo] M-Audio Delta ASIO Analog In or Mixer In. If you select Mixer In and set it up in the M-Audio Control Panel...
I grew up playing around with a Tascam 4-track cassette multitracker, and I agree that this is a good way to get into it. Keep it simple to start with, and if you like it, then dive in headfirst.
I don't know how much these are going for nowadays, but after I got frustrated with cassettes...
Does your soundcard have an onboard synth? If so, you should be able to hear it by setting the output of the MIDI track to that synth. If not, then you would have to connect an external MIDI synth or you can use softsynths. SONAR comes with some. Go to an unused Audio Track and go to the...
Well, after only a month and a half, I'm back up and running!! :o
What I ended up doing was installing XP on a new hard drive that I got for Christmas. I was then able to install my Audiophile just fine, so I thought that it must have been a system driver (PCI bus driver or...
Thanks, guys!! I knew I could count on you to steer me right! :)
Oh, btw, my folks are upgrading my Sonar 3S to 4S for Christmas! Yippee! :D I'm sure my wife will be thrilled - means I'm pretty much useless for the first couple of weeks after I get it.
Now all I have to do is...
Howdy, folks.
I'm getting a new hard drive for Christmas, and I just want to double-check how it's supposed to be set up to maximize SONAR performance.
Is it that audio files should be on a separate drive from the system files?
Or, is it that audio files should be on a separate drive from...
Does your Strat have a pickup selector switch? If so, did you try different settings there? Some of the pickup positions might be brighter than the others.
Or, maybe try an EQ cut...? You could put a very high Q value and a huge cut and try sweeping the freqs until you find one where the...
Thanks, guys, for the advice. :) Didn't exactly fill me with confidence though - I'm more scared now than before! ;) But it's good to know all the possible things to be aware of. I'm really dying to get this done because I just bought a new guitar so I'm anxious to get recording (or...
Howdy, folks.
I thought my trusty Audiophile 2496 soundcard was hosed since my comp was not recognizing it properly, but the good news is that I don't think that's the case. I tried my old Santa Cruz in the computer and got the same problems, and I tried my Audiophile in an old computer and it...
You're running XP with 64M of memory?!? Wow! I think that XP takes almost that much memory all by itself; it's a wonder you're able to open any applications at all. Seriously though, XP is quite the memory hog, and I would think that memory would be the weak link in your computer...
