    websites, logos, what's cool?

I wouldn't use any embedded media players. If you want to do song clips (or full songs), use an M3U file. It will open in the user's default media player, instead of you embedding it in a browser window. If you're going to do video, go the YouTube route. I don't know if I'd go with a forum. A...

    websites, logos, what's cool?

Hey, Here's a short little piece I wrote on some design stuff. I'm in the same field as you are. http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=237363 With regard to exactly what your site should have on it, I would say whatever you decide to do, update it at least once a week or so. A...

    How Bout A Jump Drive?

I think you'd actually be better off utilizing CDs. The reason is that you're limited as to where you can use a jumpdrive. If you give out a CD, you can play it on your computer, in your stereo, in your car, or whereever there's a CD player. With a jumpdrive, you'd need a computer or some...

Do your character speak to you

You didn't write "I Don't Even Know Your Name" (the Alan Jackson song) Did you?? (Alan Jackson, Ron Jackson, Andy Loffin) Well I was sitting in a roadhouse down on highway 41 You were wiping off some ketchup on a table that was done I knew you didn't see me, I was in a corner booth Of course...

Following Up-fiddler's lead, another song to review

I like the song, Good use of words, and good wordplay. I think, possibly, that "maknig memoirs as I write, hundred miles an hour" could be a metaphor for the guy writing really fast.

    How do you get ideas?

I tried that once..and ended up with a few lines that would have been a terriffic comedy song about a naked man in a tree outside someone's window, that looked like he was trying to get inside.

Been a while, here's a sone I'm in the middle of writing

Yeah, I'd concur with mikeh. I like how you phrased some of the lines, and it seems to have a good "flow" to it.

    Framing your first dollar?

Funny stuff! Rep points for you! maybe you could get the gold record bronzed... Another funny thing to do would be to frame the penny, or whatever amount less than a dollar...I could just see that conversation... Friend: "Hey, TerraMortim, what's with this framed <insert amount less than a...

    Framing your first dollar?

That's pretty cool! Must make you feel pretty good. :) I want to do that with the first bit of money (probably a check) that I get, as well as my CD. If an artist ever uses one of my songs, I may have to frame that CD as well, or at least buy it. :D

    Framing your first dollar?

Didn't really want to post this in the cave, and couldn't think of anywhere else, so I'll post it here. Have any of you framed your first "dollar" you made from an album, or a song? How about framing your first album? Anyone ever done that?

    How do you get ideas?

Great points, mikeh. Every song I've ever written, though, has been gold! Just kidding. :D I never thought of the "take a song you already know and re-write the lyrics", although I've done that before with certain songs.

    How do you get ideas?

I would agree with the previous posts. I'd like to add to what Mike said, though. I carry a notebook everywhere. Anyway, I don't know if you want to sound like Radiohead or not, but here's my advice (and it ties into what Mike said). As Mike said, listen to as much Radiohead as possible, and...

What software to use for CD design?

I think GIMP has a CD template. If it doesn't, I'm sure you can Google the dimensions of a CD and draw your circle based on that.

    Copyrighting songs

I would hope you're not writing sucky songs on purpose. ;) Anyway, if you put it out there, someone will like it, and someone may try to steal it. Put your stuff out there! You might be surprised.
