ADD -- blessing and curse
Didn't really want to post this in the cave, and couldn't think of anywhere else, so I'll post it here.

Have any of you framed your first "dollar" you made from an album, or a song?

How about framing your first album? Anyone ever done that?

I did frame my first check from a publisher (with the first BMI check for the same song). I do have the first album (yes back in the days of vinyl) that has some of my songs in a frame and I have 4 CD's that my material is on in a frame.

At one time I was going to have all the records/CD's that I've been involved with (as a session player and/or co-producer) framed - but that just seemed like too much work (and perhaps a little self indulgent :D ).

I also have framed some of the promotional pictures of several bands I've been in (sadly, most of the pictures over the years were lost during frequent moves).

Now I'm thnking of hanging some guitars to make more room in my studio - so all of the framed pictures, checks, etc. my have to come down.

That's pretty cool! Must make you feel pretty good. :)

I want to do that with the first bit of money (probably a check) that I get, as well as my CD.

If an artist ever uses one of my songs, I may have to frame that CD as well, or at least buy it. :D

It is nice to see some something that documents whatever minor success I've had (although it would be nice if the framed checks had a couple more zeros) :D

Sadly, I have no idea where the hell the first album I ever made made is lol. If I could find it, it would go wonderfully next to my toilet so when I am serenaded with the sounds of my own defecation, I can relive the experience of that pile of... umm great music. huh huh.

I always wanted to get a royalty check for one penny, or any ammount less than a dollar (a penny would be the funniest), so I can frame it right at the entrance to my studio, with a big golden frame and a embossed plaque below it singing the praises of my work, dedicated by some guy that's a janitor at a fast food resturaunt or something like that..that would be really funny.

If I ever got a framed gold record, I think I would do someting humourous with it, like use it as a boot rack or maybe hang it above the toilet.

I have in my office my first royalty check from SOCAN, laminated and framed on the wall. It was never cashed :)

I like your attitude - often we musicians/writers take ourselves too seriously -it would appear you have the proper perspective, and a warped sense of humor (I respect that :D )

Funny stuff! Rep points for you!

maybe you could get the gold record bronzed...

Another funny thing to do would be to frame the penny, or whatever amount less than a dollar...I could just see that conversation...

Friend: "Hey, TerraMortim, what's with this framed <insert amount less than a dollar here>?"
TerraMortim: "Oh, that's the first money I ever made with my music!"
Friend (perplexed): "???"

haha yeaaaah... if I can dig out the Portastudio 4-track cassette tape, I'll be sure to mount it in an unopenable case so no one can ever listen to it again *yikes*

thank ya very much. ar ar ar. The bronzing idea is so great! If any of us become music ledgends that shitty demo tape we recorded in our childhood bedroom of songs written about how much we hate our math teacher will no doubt find it's way into the rock n roll hall of fame, or at least on the wall of some cheezy hard rock cafe in buttfuck egypt. YIPE! Let's burn them all before they can get ahold of em! Just have a big bonfire of crappy music!
