    Recording Contract Received

Even if they are legit, it almost seems like the terms of this contract are so severe that they wouldn't hold up...although I don't know jack about it. Unless this label is going to be the last label you ever work with, it sure seems like you should stay away! From the verbage, it sounds like...

Recommend a Cheap Dynamic Mic that Sounds Decent, please

One more plug for the SM57...if this is your first dynamic microphone, then get the 57. It will at least be a reference by which to judge all the others you'll pick up over the years. If there was one purchase that I wouldn't worry about, it would be an SM57...new for around $70, you can't go...

    Damaged SP B-1

Out of fairness, there have been more complaints here about MXL reliability than SP! I think the point is that when you're buying a cheap mic, you're probably not going to get something that's built like a tank. Maybe a little extra care is in order - or maybe not. When you have a mic that...

Hafler TA1600 vs TA1100 vs older amps

P.S. I use the TA1600 to power Event 20/20's. While it's kind of underpowered, I believe I can get around 115db before it breaks up, which is plenty loud (don't quote that number, I just know I get enough volume to hurt the ears...I measured it once but I'm bad at remembering numbers)...

    file conversion to .voi

n-Track really doesn't do any file conversion of this type. I'm going to move this post down into the Computer Recording forum where you'll have better luck finding someone who can help you. Good luck! Slackmaster 2000

Hafler TA1600 vs TA1100 vs older amps

The TA1600 is a little underpowered, but a very good value. You're right, there is no reason to look at the TA1100 with the 1600 being so affordable. Very nice amp. With an older amp you're taking your chances...crackles, pops, breakdowns...they're all more likely. That's not to say that...

An even bigger holy fucking shit. Davisound as a company really exsists!!!!!!!!

I think the wood is fantastic looking. Yes, wood burns but it can be treated...plus starting a piece of wood on fire by just getting it hot on one side is very unlikely. And who knows...audio circuits are very sensitive to outside forces...maybe wood does sound a little better! :) Regardless...

    Mic Cable Quality?

Yes, the difference between a very cheap mic cable, like something from Radio Shack (which may not be balanced you know!) and a higher quality cable is really quite dramatic. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't tested the claim for myself. You don't have to go buying monster cable though...

Recommend a Cheap Dynamic Mic that Sounds Decent, please

The SM57 is one of those rare products that isn't recommended because of excess hype, it's just the real thing and has been used extensively for decades. Every single studio in the world has several SM57's, and they've probably been used in some capacity on almost every record you've ever...

    Audio out to headphones

Well, you just plug the soundcard output into the mixer instead of into your computer speakers. It sounds like you're going to need a cable with a 1/8" stereo phono plug on one end and RCA connectors on the other...shouldn't be too hard to find, even radio snack would have them. win2k, need software

Just about everything will work fine on 2K these days. You sure you don't have an out of date version of PT Free? Anyhow, for cheap solutions look at n-Track and Fruity Loops. Slackmaster 2000

    Live Input Processing + Delta?

Anybody just get a nasty clipped output signal whenever they turn on live input processing? It's worth with the new build than it was in the past. I used to be able to turn it on, wait for it to spike, then turn it off and back on again and it'd be fine. Now that procedure doesn't work...

Why did Gadget Labs go out of business?

Buying a gadgetlabs card is a huge mistake at this point. Unless you have the money laying around and have time to kill tinkering around trying to make things work, it's not a very wise purchase. That's not to say they didn't make some fine cards though. Slackmaster 2000

What could possibly go wrong with this plan?

    1) You don't write excpetional hooks (at least not yet). 2) Your vocal intonation is still way off. 3) The music biz consists of wall to wall marketing people. The benefit of a musician/writer with marketing skills is nil. 4) College degrees do not qualify you for work anymore. Your degree...

Hey Fletcher, can I leave my RNC on?

You should've contacted them just to protect others from the same problem...coulda been a whole batch of bad warts! Now you've made me more paranoid than ever...and I was just getting used to all this stuff plugged in. I guess I'll start my unplug ritual every night again :) Slackmaster 2000

    We should talk about artwork...

*pssst, Dave....those are the colors I already chose if you read my first post...hehe* They won't be the primaries though...I'm going to take shades from the insert artwork so it all looks good together. That's the plan anyhow. Slackmaster 2000
